I got some materials from the timeshare store today, do I understand that resale purchases can still be us for Rci, by I thought uou could only use resale points on dvc resorts

Currently you can use them for RCI. DVC's version of RCI is a fraction of the RCI inventory so for some, losing RCI access might not be a big deal.

Point purchased thru resale after the March 2011 date can still book RCI, Club Cordial and Club Intrawest. The Disney collection and Concierge collection were removed as options unless grandfathered in or buying direct.

But the best use of DVC points is for DVC resorts.
