Resale shopping again.. my heart wants one thing but my head says another. Give your opinions.

really enjoyed following along over what was a mostly overcast and rainy MDW here at home! Looking forward to hearing more about your final thoughts, the curve ball, and next steps from here. sounds like a great trip and how amazing to experience both a refurbed room AND an upgrade to a 1BD at BLT!

Ooh, @Sandisw is it against the rules to start a new thread to create a new poll to guess what @VGCgroupie is going to buy next? 🤣

(If Sandi says yes while I’m busy working in the AM, somebody else should feel free to start the thread, no pride of ownership here!)

My vote pre-curveball would have been CCV.

I was going to joke that taking less DVC enthusiast spouse on a DVC-resort warrior weekend fresh off a redeye might mean not buying more points at all— hoping that whatever it is, you’re aligned.

this is incredible— I thought I was getting to black belt level at WDW but I still have so much to learn. This thread already convinced me I need to make it WL at twilight, what time do you need to be boarding a boat (and which launch is it?) to have a shot of catching this view? Teach me your ways!

It’s a bad time and it’s an especially bad time to sell AUL-S, the market doesn’t seem to be valuing the dues subsidy as much as I do. If our AUL points weren’t direct, we’d probably be eating the sale coat to flip them to subsidized dues.

You can start any poll you want!!!

We see you on here liking everyone's posts @VGCgroupie! Even my husband, who has absolutely no social media, has come out of his office a couple of times today to ask for an update.
Do you write suspense novels? You might have missed your calling if not. 😜

🤣 🤣 This is amazing!! We haven't nailed down our choice just yet. I can say I am very glad we visited the cabins. But we wouldn't buy there, my foot is down on that one.

We are still making our choice. We know how we feel but we need to look at the boring numbers tonight. One thing this trip taught me is that it's important to know what you are buying. I 100% did not when I considered buying at WDW a year ago. I looked only at the price per point of it not the quality of stay and feelings of it. I am VERY happy my first offer I ever made for DVC at SSR was declined.

The Fort is special. I, like the die hard fort fans, am worried about how LL will impact that area. I have no idea how they would handle Halloween, right now they have it pretty locked down. But not sure how they keep an entire resort out.

Some of this may be redundant in what I shared while there but here is my thoughts on the 2 places we actually stayed at. And 2 questions that are weighing on my mind.

BLT
I really loved the views at night. A theme park view room would be amazing. We were in a preferred view room and the view during the day was nice and you could see Epcot. At night you couldn’t really see the ball too well due to light pollution in front of it, you could see the Epcot fireworks in the distance and a portion of the light pageant. I loved loved that you can see the fireworks and castle from the walking bridge or over off the deck area, huge plus as I don’t ever want to watch fireworks on Main St at MK.

We really really liked the refurbished 1 bedroom. 2 bathrooms is hard to beat. We liked the non galley kitchen layout w/ the island. The abstract art is very cool and I like it alot but I didn’t get the feels when I looked at it like I did at BWV, no pure joy while brushing my teeth like at BWV.

When I came home from our trip in April I for sure thought I would love being able to walk to MK from BLT. Well that experience was pretty neutral to me. Not great, not horrible.

I like that BLT has cover if you need to go get food. I like the food options. I don’t love the contemporary much. Very much feels like an airport. I don’t love that BLT is disconnected from Contemporary, this is a big reason I didn’t like VDH at first either.

You all may know I am bathroom snob. After taking the red eye and not sleeping our room wasn’t ready so I had to freshen up in the lobby bathroom and apply my sunscreen etc. This bathroom was SO NICE. The lobby bathroom was a huge single bathroom no stalls. Its was immaculately clean. I could set my makeup bag on the counter without hesitation because it was so clean. This is a small thing but to me it made a great difference in the start of my day.

Since we stayed in a 1 bedroom via an unexpected upgrade I can honestly say my husband may have had blinders on in regards the stay at CCV. He was blinded by the BLT 1 bedroom

- My biggest decision making question on BLT would be… could this preferred view actually be given as a theme park view since you can technically see Epcot?

CCV
I walked in and even though I had an idea of what to expect I was still in awe, especially after leaving the blah BLT/Contemporary lobby. CCV felt special much like VGC does although piano man really elevates VGC imo. I also noticed the homey vibe of CCV/BRV. People hanging out playing games, kids walking barefoot around (not a negative just an observation) I really liked the pool tables and fooseball outside, maybe this is part of their community hall? I just really like that my son can be doing that and I can have eyes him while hanging out by the water and not have him behind closed doors.

Seeing the water pegaent was a big plus. Not excited about the fireworks view from here though.

I didn’t realize that BRV and CCV were connected so closely. I really see it as one resort and I know I can get into BRV pretty easily most times of year I have found, so that is a factor in my decision.

The boat ride to MK was amazing.. seeing the monorail going back and forth next to the iconic Grand Floridian, seeing the expanse of the water. This boat rode did beat out the ride from BWV to HS by far.

- My biggest decision making question/wonder here is, is CCV more popular and more expensive solely due to BRV 2042 expiration? I really don’t see how the CCV lobby could be the selling point over BRV since they are basically feet away from one another. All in all we really liked CCV and I cant believe I considered selling it without ever going there.

Enjoyed your recap! Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do. I think the CCV price is definitely higher because of the expiration date. Twenty-six years longer than BRV.

I agree, CCV is definitely priced higher due to expiration.

But I still wonder why their rooms seem to book up so much quicker than BRV. More contracts? I've never really looked into it, actually.

I don't know why I thought you owned at CCV and BWV. (What you own is right there in your signature...ha!) I do feel like you mention loving BWV and the feelings you get there a lot. So how do you compare the "feel" of Wilderness Lodge vs. Boardwalk?

That's so funny because I've been reading my husband the updates on this thread over the weekend! 🤣

I wonder this too because it seems like the consensus among many is that BRV is more well themed and the rooms are more liked, yes its very easily available
