Besides the restrictions that were announced for March 2011 for the resale market, have there ever been any other restrictions on the resale market before March 2011? :confused3

No, resale buyers before 21 March of this year were treated the same as retail buyers.

I think that the recent changes have people worried. Disney has shown that the can and will make changes to the rules and policies without much regard to the DVC Members.

Once you are a member, legally they cannot change anything that is not guaranteed unless they do it for everyone. I cannot see the legality in taking things away from those purchased resale, and not those who bought direct. They can (and have) changed things for future resale buyers. THAT is legal and well within their right. But to change something for some preexisting members but not all opens them up to litigation, which is not something Disney is interested in.

I don't recall rule changes without regard for the members. Certainly the Valet parking and reallocation would qualify under that statement.

First, I doubt Disney is worried about litigation, they deal with it every day and they have an entire department dedicated to that issue. Those who think threatening such will have any effect are deluding themselves. I'm sure that's not what you are suggesting but we've seen it here many times.

As for removing benefits, yes and no. They could not change things that are contractual except within the prescribed manner. Since they have total control (contractually) over the reservation system, they do have some latitude there. Practically they can't change much for existing resorts for the resorts themselves but they can change, add, remove all sorts of other things including DCL, DC, ABD, CC, discounts, etc. on their whim and after the fact. RCI and BVTC are unknowns, my guess is they don't have much latitude there but I can't back it up with language. The same could not be said for new resorts or even new additions to existing resorts. There is a fine line. Other timeshare companies based in FL have made changes after the fact that affected existing members and future resale members including in the area of getting priority making reservations.

While you are correct, remember that we only purchased our home resort.

Anything not associated with staying at a home resort is a perk and it not something required by the contract.

I forget the wording, but I think the only home resort guarantee we have is that we will have the ability to book our home resort a minimum of 1 month before anyone who does not own there.
