Resale contracts can’t book GF resort studios?

So we just purchased a resale contract at BCV. We also have a direct purchase at Riviera. There are 75 points that will be expiring March 2023. Before I made an offer on the BCV contract I called member services to be sure that I could transfer those 75 points to my Riv membership and use them on 2 GF reservations that had already been booked. After they looked at everything I was told that it would be no problem. Well, when I call today, I was told that those resale points can’t be used on resort studios….did I just miss the memo on that one? Resort studios can’t be booked with resale points? Also (since one of the reservations was for a deluxe studio), I was going to at least use the points on that one, but was told that they would risk losing the reservation since they would have to cancel and rebook. I’m going to call back later and hopefully get someone else that will give me different answers. But any input would be greatly appreciated.
 
Did you use VGF points to book at VGF at >7 months? You can't swap those points for anything but other VGF points. Otherwise, everyone would just swap their SSR points into their priority reservations.

It's also possible the UY doesn't line up between the memberships.

If that isn't what happened, I would call again. Not everyone at MS knows all the rules. To be fair, there are a lot.
 
Have you tried booking online?? I’m resale at OKW, and I can select a resort room and everything. Riviera doesn’t even show up for me (not even in the list of what I can select, which I expect!) because of my white card.

Resale points should be usable on VGF2, so I think you just got a confused CM.
Your problem may lie elsewhere. You say you want to transfer your new resale points into your Riviera membership - are your resale points a different use year & thus a different membership, maybe the transfer is creating the problem & the need to cancel & rebook?
I assume you booked w/in 7 months, thus that shouldn’t be a problem.
Good luck & I’ll be curious to know if a different CM can work it out for you.

No. I booked both within 7 months. I had used riviera points. But they were saying that resale points couldn’t be used on the resort studios at GF but that they could be used on the deluxe studios at GF. They didn’t say the fact that the UYs being different was the issue. But I also didn’t realize that they would have to cancel and rebook. The girl I was speaking to made it sound like some would do it that way (she was getting all of this information from the guy who was going to do the actual transfer of points). It was strange. She said she hadn’t been aware of the resort studio thing either.

Yes. Glad you mentioned it because I just went on the site to see…and I could’ve booked a resort studio at GF if I wanted. With the BCV points.

Thank you. Yes. The fact that they’re telling me they’ll have to cancel and rebook is what’s worrying me now. Hopefully I can get a different answer. Thanks for response
 
I called back and got the same lady! LOL awwwkward. I asked her if she could try calling about the transfer to see if she could get a different person and she said she thinks it was just that one guy working that position tonight. So she advised me to call back again tomorrow.

Since you mentioned RIV, I wonder if the CM got confused that the resale points were the RIV ohes, or when you said wanting to use them in your RIV membership, thought you want to use them there, even though you said resort studios.

But, getting them transferred and then using them won’t be a problem since you booked within 7 months.

I would just say you need them transferred and then reallocated into some current trips.

Well. I repeated very slowly to them to make sure I understood the “restriction” they were referring to….and that we would have to cancel the reservation and rebook and risk losing it. Sounds like the CM was skeptical of whatever the guy on the back end was telling her. But there was no way for her to go against it or get a different person on the phone since he was the only one working that position. Just goes to show how valuable these boards are….if I didn’t have access to knowledgeable people, I may have just accepted it.
