Resale confusion

So 1st off this is the opposite of “purchasing DVC” because we are looking at possibly selling one of our contracts. My question is about the fact that my contract I may sell was purchased prior to all the 2015 resale rules that were implemented. I’m thinking if I sell this then I will no longer be grandfathered in since I bought my 2nd contract resale 2020? This sounds correct, right? Just trying to know exactly what to expect if we sale. I hope this question makes sense.

Yes, selling a grandfathered contract will cost you the DVC benefits aka "blue card" you currently have.

Since you bought your other contract in 2020 you will not only lose your blue card you will also not be able to book Rivera and any other new resort that have the dreadful restrictions

The benefits are attached to the contract so when you bought is the key.

Works the same way with direct contracts bought. Any sale of them will eliminate the benefits one got for buying.

Gotcha! Thanks everyone. That’s what I figured. Just wanted to make sure I was understanding what I’d be giving up if I sold. We used to love Disney, but our past fall trip was lackluster. We’re going a few more times this year, but if things feel the same as they did last time- it may be time for us to “break up” with Disney. Sadness

I feel your pain. We were going almost every year pre pandemic, now if we go every third year I'm fine with that. I did all the planning and really enjoyed it, now not so much. If it weren't for VB and HHI, we'd probably sell one of our contracts too.
