I'm an Orlando local and I work for a small company that has a few employees who work remotely from overseas and occasionally come visit our headquarters here. Right now we have an employee visiting from Turkey, and the company owner has asked me to take him to Epcot tomorrow since he's never been. I bought his ticket online and assigned it to his name, and received a message saying I can just show the ticket on my phone and to have his government-issued ID handy.

Since he's coming from another country, I want to make sure he has the right ID with him. Normally I'd assume a driver's license would work, but I recall traveling with a friend of mine who's Canadian and she was usually told that she had to show her passport to buy alcohol, though one time a waitress said she had to show her license. The rules don't seem to be consistent for that, but we don't need his ID to buy alcohol, just to get into the park. I'd hate to ask him to carry around his passport if it's not necessary. I also know from experience that the answer I get if I call guest services might not be the correct one.

So I wanted to present to the hive mind and ask for those of you who've visited from a foreign country or who have traveled with people who have, especially from a country where the documents are probably not in English. How should I best advise him on what to bring? Thank you!

Safest thing is to bring the passport if he wants to purchase alcohol. As you have said the rule is applied inconsistently but the passport is often asked for when it comes to ID documents from outside of the US.

He won't be purchasing alcohol, but it sounds like the passport might be the safest option.

I would advise carrying a passport at all times. I'm from Ireland and I always have my passport, for example say you were driving him somewhere and got pulled over by the police for speeding, the police might want to see his ID or even worse someone ran a red light and your car was hit. Having a passport at all times when in a foreign country is very important.
