Requesting Savannah view for Value Rooms?

Last year when I made my AKV reservation, I was able to request a Savannah view for my Value room. When I booked my AKV Value 1 bedroom this time, I was told that I cannot request that anymore. Apparently, there was no way for them to do this. I am a little confused since I had been able to request this before. :confused3

I did remember seeing a thread about this a while ago, but now I can't find it. I didn't pay much attention to it so I'm not sure if it was deemed an error by the CM or if it's the policy now?

Does anyone have any info about this? Was I told something incorrect or is this the new policy?

Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks.:)

I am waiting intently with you to hear about this. I never knew this was even possible. Would be great, hopefully you were told wrong and it is still possible Here's hopin' :thumbsup2

Yep, because of the big discount for the points and the small number of rooms, you cannot request a view if you book the Value Villas. Good luck.

Someone on another thread mentioned that you CAN request a specific room though. Anyone else know if this is true or not?

About two weeks ago I was able to place a specific room number request for the value studio I will be using in August.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I am having trouble figuring out what the room numbers are for the savana-view value studios. I would also prefer a non-handicap room. Can anyone help me out?

It is my understanding that they no longer accept requests for views for Value or Club Level villas. It seems like last July when I made our reservation for this year I requested savanna view, and we ended up with pool view anyway. Really, since the views on those villas aren't guaranteed I am sure they figure everybody wants savanna view and those are the ones they fill first when guests arrive at the resort.

i think it is true for now...at least until people start complaining to the CMs that they paid a lot of money for DVC and they should get the one exact room that they requested...;)

Who would ask for or want the parking lot view? I do not think they should take any requests for the value villas. I think it should be the luck of the draw. There have been threads here about melt downs at the check in desk. Back when they were first put in, you knew you had a savannah view if "dedicated studio" was on the reservation. That was stopped, and we all could guess why if we thought about it.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess they are trying to alleviate the problems with guests who get upset over requests. I think it's silly for anyone to be upset if they don't get the Savannah view when all they booked is the
Value room. If it was really important to get that view, they should have booked it. I like to request it just in case there was a choice between this view and the pool view and they would know what I'd prefer.

When I requested Savannah views, I never assume that I would get it all the time. And I can see why some guests could be upset that they didn't get it. But I think, even with the requests, it's still the luck of the draw. I was just surprised that I was told that they don't take the Savannah view request anymore. And yes, I assume that most won't request a parking lot view. I have gotten all those views even though I have requested Savannah, and I have yet to upset about my room views.

The only time I have requested a view is for the Value rooms in AKV. Otherwise, it's just high floor for us. So, we've had a mixture of views. I have gotten the dreaded dumpster view at VWL which I didn't mind too much since it was a very quiet location. We didn't hear anything in the hallways. I have also booked a BLT Lakeview and gotten the CR view. I can barely see the lake, but we were fine. I have gotten the parking lot view of BWV and BCV also, and although I would have preferred better views, we were fine.

Funny story: The only time that I inquired about a different room was when I had requested a high floor and they put us in the ground floor. I was only able to utter "Is it possible to get a ....." before she jumped up and said that she was going to get me a room on a higher floor because it was not an unreasonable request and she kept muttering that she couldn't believe they couldn't do this for me. She apologized several times and I did start to feel like I made a fuss. I then started to apologize and she stopped me before I can finish... she said "no, no no...it is our mistake". I stood there thinking that she made such a fuss, I thought that she'd come back with keys to Cinderella's castle suite. :lmao:. She took it upon herself to go to the manager and try to fix this issue. It did take longer because, she had to reassign the room and reprint the kttw cards even though I had already check in online.

Sorry about the tangent...I just wanted to be clear that I'm not one to start getting upset just because I don't get a certain view that I wanted. I have found many favourite villas and views but I don't feel it's appropriate to request for certain rooms...I think that would be difficult for the CMs to do. I'm just surprised that they don't accept the view request anymore. I understand why some guests, especially if this is their first and possibly their only time visiting Disney that they would want their idea of the perfect villa. But, don't we all?:confused3

Anyways, thanks for the replies. I just wanted to make sure that it was the policy now and not a mistake by the CM.

I have already seen that.. I think this is doomed to be a disaster.

DVC member seem to think "Request" means guarantee and when I don't get it the appropriate reaction is to inpersonate a 2 year old! :rotfl::confused3

Just wanted to mention that I am also one that will not get upset if not given a certain room. I'm at Disney; how can I be upset??? I was just surprised that they would take a request for a certain room, but not a certain view. I was just thinking, "Then, why not request a certain room?" The only thing about that is I'm afraid if I did request a certain room that they would put me in a parking-lot view for sure, out of spite! :lmao: I think I'll just stick with the 80% chance of getting savanna or pool view. I would be ecstatic with pool view; we had a pool view concierge room last October, and it was beautiful! In fact, I've decided if I ever book a standard room, I'll book at Jambo House just for the pool view.

we booked a Savannah room last Dec in Jambo, we saw one animal. The room is now classified as a Standard View. it was literally right above the check in counter. (it was at the end between 2 buildings.)

maybe you will get pixie dust from the upgrade fairy. :)

About two weeks ago I was able to place a specific room number request for the value studio I will be using in August.

So did I! When she told me that I couldn't make a view request, I remembered the room # of the value studio I had last year that was savannah view. I asked if I could request a particular room # and it was no problem. I'd be very interested to hear as to whether or not you get the room # you requested in August.
As to the person who mentioned not wanting a HA value studio, there are no value studios which are HA. I think it's because of their size.
