Requesting Same Room for Multiple Reservations

We rented points and had to split our front-end trip nights at the Riviera (1 night, 2 nights before moving to VGF). I know we can have the reservation(s) noted ahead of time and have it submitted by Touring Plans, but is it realistic that they would honor the request? We'll talk to the front desk when we arrive, but didn't want to get my hopes up if most don't have good luck with this. Thanks!

We've never had to move and in all my years on the boards I recall only a couple reports that people didn't get to stay in the same room. Just follow your plan to talk to the front desk and even if they didn't notice it ahead of time they will most likely make it happen. (not guaranteed of course)
I also suggest to do this before going to your room just in case they do need to change the room to make it happen.

I’m doing this next week and will report back. We have 2 different rentals for OKW Sat & Sunday. Our plan is to arrive at OKW front desk before noon and make sure they are aware. They probably prefer not to flip the room if possible.

Exactly. It's to their benefit as well as yours.

Caveat being that your reservations are the same booking category your request is most likely to be honored. Different booking categories your chances are zero.

We did this once and made the mistake of NOT talking to the front desk. Well, actually we switched twice. We switched from a two bedroom to a studio on the weekend...I guess to save points? And then we were to switch back to a 2 bedroom. We rushed to get all packed up while at the same time trying to get to Rise of Resistance (it had just opened that week). We went through all this rushing and stress. Then it ended up the studio we stayed at made up the 2 bedroom we moved into! So we could have just kept our stuff in the studio.

One time we wanted to stay in the same room across two reservations, and the resort had blocked off our unit after the initial departure day so they could group a wedding party together. That's definitely the exception, not the rule. But just mentioning that's one reason why it's not 100%.

More often than not, housekeeping still services the room on the day it's set to be flipped. The front desk can arrange for you to stay in the same physical room, but I think housekeeping still sees it as the end of one reservation and start of another.

We do this a lot with consecutive nights on my memberships and our room is never serviced when we technically change reservations.

So, in our experience, linking our stays so we don’t change rooms…we have never had to move…has not triggered the cleaning.

I waitlisted a Sunday that I couldn't get with my original 6 night res and it came through. When I called MS to ask to combine the reservations she put in the request and said "Oh, believe me. The resort doesn't want you to have to change rooms either." :D

We did the same for our stay next week. Had to WL the first night. The CM told me that it would be automatically combined with the rest of the stay about a week after the WL came through. It indeed was combined into one reservation. I didn't even have to call like I had in the past.

How did it go? Did you just have to go down on Sunday and checkout/in?

Hope you had a nice trip.

Yes we had an awesome 2 1/2 day trip! Still have the smile on my face :)

We stopped by OKW around 10am to confirm one reservation and they said no problem. Our room came through just before 3pm and we were able to stay put. Such a nice relaxing resort and it was great to have 2 real beds in a studio.

While I will note I am not sure with multiple memberships but I see no reason as long as there are under the same name and part was not booked under the 11 month and 7 month and Riv. rules.............. If you call DVC - in the renters case the owner has to- They can and will 100% connect the reservations and all will be under one reservation number

They can not be one reservation number if booked in different memberships because the points are tied to the membership.

That is why you have to transfer points from one membership to the other if you want to book one continuous stay.

If reservations are rented by different owners, then the best they can do is put a note to link them as continuous stay so you don’t have ti change rooms.
