Hi. I am a total coffee adict! I will request a coffee pot for our AKL trip, but should I bring my own coffee & cream or will they supply that wonderful coffee I hear so much about?

Thanks,
Shellie

i highly recommend bringing your own. Unless you like nescafe.
Ill have plently of hazlenut on me next week if u need some
:)

Nescafe? You've got to be kidding! At a resort like that they give you Nescafe??? Maybe you can leave me some hazelnut at the front desk!:teeth: Can I buy some good grounds there at the resort shop? I don't want to bring my bean grinder. I'm only taking a carry-on and space is at a premium!

Bring your own! The coffee they supply for the first night is awful. I do have to say that the view more than makes up for bad coffee, though! :)

Have a wonderful WILD trip!

I brought my own coffee & creamer when hubby and I stayed at the Yacht Club. We bought the all you can drink mug and loved sipping our own coffee in the morning.:D

You might need to bring filters too. When we used the resort provided maker at the Poly, we needed basket type filters as the coffee they provided came in "pillows" I imagine that it is the same all over property.
One thing WDW does NOT do right, is coffee - Blech!

I travel frequently and found that Starbucks sells Coffe Filter Packs for the 4-cup coffee pots. They work great as all you have to do is open the foil package and you're ready to go. They come in a set of 6 and they are very handy when traveling!

The Starbucks tip is a great one! Thanks!

We had the in room coffee one morning, and honestly, I do not think it was so awful. I mean...yeah...when we went to Boma for breakfast the next morning and had the pressed pot...sure, that was much better. But hey, if you think about it, then go ahead and throw some coffee in your suitcase. remember, all rooms have fridges now, so if you are addicted to real cream or anything, you can have it!

I'm a picky coffee drinker and always bring my own! I bring coffee, sugar and creamer in ziplock baggies. I also bring the filters for a 4 cup coffee maker, you can find them at any grocery store.

I also bring my own 4 cup filters and coffee. I either buy the individual coffee packets or some bulk, freshly ground coffee. The good thing about the bulk is that I like to combine a flavored coffee with a non-flavored, which is easy to do.
I don't use cream or sugar so don't need to bring that.

I asked the same question before our trip and ended up grinding some coffee and bringing the 4 cup size filters...glad we did because they only provide one packet of coffee and it wasn't great.

It was wonderful to have the coffeemaker in our room though. We could sip our first cup while watching the zebras being fed!

Unless you're staying concierge at AKL, where they have an espresso machine, then bring your own.

In addition, bring your own water for the coffee. I'm serious. People, including my self, and I live here, are surprised at how terrible the water is on Disney grounds. It tastes like they pumped it right out of the 7 seas lagoon.

The water will ruin any coffee you try to make.

We're bringing our own espresso machine and percolator next time, plus a case of water bottles just for coffee. That's how serious we are.

Any less and you are risking a less than perfect cup of brew.

Hi fam4jc
We will be at AKL the same time you are....maybe we'll run into each other on a search for good coffee.

Tigger&Belle - Wow :cool1: Good for you and your mom!! I saw from your signature, way cool!

Dansyr - we would love to meet you! It's just me and my friend from work on a quick "fix" trip.

Okay, bring bottles water also! Good golly! :earseek: but I've got to have good coffee. So Caipirabob please let me know if my coffee plans are good:
1. Get Starbucks 4cup packs (at MCO??? I live in a small town, no starbucks here)
2. Stop and get bottled water (6 pak should be enough)
3. Bring real cream

That should take care of the coffee crisis. Hey, why is it that disney can't do a good cup of coffee in our room? I hate having to get dressed before my first cup of coffee. Anyone else have that problem? I usually have two cups before I begin dressing.

If you stay concierge at AKL, don't bother. They have the best espresso machine for all you can drink espresso on the grounds. Worth going for that alone, in fact, I'd recommend you upgrade if you're not staying concierge.

But if not, then I suggest you bring not just your own coffee, but percolator and water.

Tap water at Disney is swill and tastes like it's been pumped from the 7 Seas Lagoon. It will utterly and completely ruin your coffee. Bring a case or so of bottled water, you can use it for both the parks and your coffee.

We are bringing both a percolator and our espresso machine for the next time we stay in Hawaii at the Polynesian. I heard they finally got some sort of espresso machine, but then someone told me they use a powdered mix. I have reported this to the proper authorities (ok, kidding here...)

OK, I'm SUCH an addict I posted on this thread 3 times.

Addicted? Perhaps, but I prefer "exceptionally appreciative"...

Next time, I finish my cup before I post.

Your post made me smile at 5:30 am. That is tough to do as my coffee isn't completely gone yet, either! :) I think it is the nature *no pun intended* of the resort to want a good cup of coffee and to sit out on the balcony watching the world go by. We find we spend many more hours just hanging out when at AKL compared to other resorts. A good cup of coffee, or a visit to the concierge cap machine, is just part of that!
