Replacing iPod battery?

DD has had her iPod Mini for just about two years and I think the battery is dying. It only holds a charge for 2 hours or so now. Has anyone had luck getting the battery replaced...?? Or would it be cheaper/better for her to purchase a new Nano?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Batteries have a limited number of recycles (Charges) it is best to run them down completely before recharging. Haven't had to replace one yet. But don't see anyway of opening the case

wow - it lasted for 2 years? That is great for an iPOD mini.

You can buy the batteries on EBAY for about $15, you can buy some kits from online stores for about $25. Apple will replace it for about $59. Do an online search and their are a ton of sites that can walk you through it.

You might want to check the exact age. If it is less than 2 years old and the battery has gone to less than 50% capacity, Apple will replace it for free.

Wow...really? It's not quite at the 2-year mark yet (end of this month). Do I just contact Apple directly?

not unless you have Apple Care. the basic warranty is one year, and that includes battery life.

I bought my Nano from Best Buy, I bought a 2 year warranty that includes battery replacement.

if you're in the mode to buy any Apple product, wait until day 364 and then buy Apple Care. you're covered for another two years over the standard one year warranty.

You don't have to wait. If you buy it right away you get three full years from date of purchase. AND 90 days of free phone support. Which you probably wouldn't need after having had the product for a year.

So says my personal Mac expert.
