Replacing a laptop screen

Anyone have any idea on how much it cost to get a screen replaced on a laptop? I have one of the $300 HP laptops from Walmart and my fat cat jumped on it and cracked the screen good.

It depends on the type of laptoo. Some screens are incredible easy to replace so it may be 100-150 but some the parts are harder to come by or the screen is hard to replace so it can be much more.

My husband has replaced my screen twice on my laptop. Once because the laptop fell off the couch and once because I grabbed the screen when picking it up. I didn't realize my thumb could be so powerful! I can't remember what we paid for the laptop, $300-$400 range.

He looked for a replacement laptop screen on amazon along with the name of the laptop. Both times it was $45.52 including shipping for the screen. I just checked and the same screen is now $38.15 including shipping. I'm sure it depends on what laptop you have, but I can't imagine it being much different.

Then he just looked up a how-to video to see how to replace it. Really easy with step-by-step instructions by video.

Our teenage son broke the digitizer on his laptop at Christmas. The digitizer is the piece of glass in front of the LCD which makes it a touchscreen. Local computer shop said $300 to fix it. Laptop was only $500 new so I couldn't justify the cost. I found the part online for $135 shipped, but thought that was still too steep. We'll just replace it.
