Just curious.. Do you all get new autographs for the same characters? We had a really fat autograph book for all the possible characters in september. It seemed to get sorta annoying to keep having to pull it out of the backpack. So all of this to say.. Do you get new autographs with each trip or just pose with the characters for updated pics?

We've done both. Our first trip we did autographs and then we decided on our next trip to just get pictures with the characters because honesty, we never looked at those autograph books again. My girls didn't seem to care that they didn't collect autographs, but it did seem as though the girls didn't know what to say. The autograph books seem to kind of break the ice for my girls.

For our most recent trip, I made autograph books using pictures of my girls with the characters from past trips and had the characters sign these pictures. I did add some blank pages at the back for characters we had never met before. This made for some great character interactions and we have looked through these books since because they're photo albums. I'll likely make updated version each trip. The back cover of the books have info stating which trips the pictures come from as well as which trip the autographs come from (there is space for text in the template). I used shutterfly for the books.

We buy the autograph books with the slot for pictures on the opposite side. My daughters love looking at the autographs because their pictures are right next to them. Each year we get the same characters autograph but of course its a new picture with each year.

We now travel with a book that has pictures of each character from every Disney movie and a small bit of history about them... we use this book for autographs and it gives us something to read to the kids while we are waiting in line for the photo. If they are a character that arent in the book, then we have the photoalbum/autograph book to sign. We only get the signature once, (opening the book and reminding them that we have the signature already) and just get photos if we have seen them before. We often preface by saying "Hi Goofy! Remember we got your signature last night at Dinner? But Max wasnt there... so we will need to get him to sign our book right kids?"... then the character catches on and doesnt try to sign again! (This helps when there is more than one character at a spot and they pass the book around)

I was curious about this too because we did autographs both trip last year, and DH and i really dont want to spend all that time w/ characters again. Would it be crazy for us to ask the kids which they want to see more and just see those???

The past 3 trips, DD7 has gotten autographs. It doesn't matter if she already had them from that trip or not...she wanted the autograph. Seriously, I think we have each character about 5 times in each book!!!

This year, we have a new DD who will be 13 months old, so I figured we could skip the autographs and just do stuff....but no, DD7 wants to get autographs again.

:headache:

I have to admit that it's the one thing that she really, really likes to do at WDW, so I guess we'll just suffer, but I am so ready for her to be done with the autographs.

Maybe next year.....

Thanks to all of you! I love the idea of having them sign the pics form previous visits! That's cool too!!!

Did you make your book or buy it somewhere? I'd love to find a ready made book or something that has photos of characters and some general information....

Or maybe I'd make some up ahead of time, knowing which characters we are likely to see -- but I'm not real creative or artistic...

We bought it... at Disneyworld on one of our first trips...

It's called Disney's Jr. Encyclopedia of Animated Characters"... it's great!!
