We are redoing my daughters room and need a chest of drawers. I found an old one in my parents basement in good condition but it's painted with very boyish colors. I would like to repaint it to match my daughters room. Any suggestions how? Do I need to sand it then paint? What's the best paint for this type of job? I just looking for suggestions so that I can complete this project and show my DH I can make it nice enough to be in her room. I would prefer not to buy a new drawers if possible. Thanks for any suggestions.

Depends on how it is finished. I change Dd's every other year depending on her mood and room colors. IF you are going from a gloss to a flat sand it first. Same finish to same finish you dont need to sand.

Hers is done in a gloss so I buy Rustoleum Painter Touch gloss paint (Menard's sells it), drag it outside onto some newspapers and spray away. Hers takes 2 cans and looks like a new piece for $8 and an hours time.

Thank you. It is a glossy finish...and I don't mind it being glossy again. The spray paint sound awesome! :cool1: I'll look into that brand and see what colors are available. Thank you so much!
