Renting video cameras

I posted this on another website and got no answers, so I'm hoping I have better luck with you guys. Can anyone tell me if you can rent video cameras at WDW? Our camcorder bit the dust, and our budget is so tight that if we have to buy a new one, we'll probably have to sleep in the car! I know you used to be able to rent cameras, but I don't know if you still can and I've never heard anything about video cameras. If you can, would anyone happen to know what it costs?

Thanks,

Musky (aka Becky)

I remember reading about that in a Guide Book but it was spendy.

Would $200. be to much for a new Video Camera?? I got mine at Wal-Mart for that amount at Thanksgiving last year.

WDW no longer rents video cameras. You may find one outside WDW. Do a search for video camera rentals in FL.

Thank you both for the info. I knew I could count on you guys! I don't know, we might be able to swing $200 - I wish I knew exactly how much the trip will cost. And all of the camcorders I've seen around here have been in the $400-$700 range. I thought they were supposed to have gotten more affordable! Anyway, I didn't get the answer I was hoping for, but at least it was an answer. Thanks again.

I just answered this question for someone else on one of these boards, but here goes again.

I find myself somewhat the expert on this subject since our camcorder was stolen on the flight down to WDW, and we had to rent one. The resorts no longer rent out video cameras, but one place does. It is called Magic Video, and it is located in the Wyndham Palace Resort near Downtown Disney.

The price is $29.99 for the first 24 hours, and $19.99 for the next 24 hours. They also gave us extra batteries and a case to carry it all in. This was a JVC compact camcorder that used VHS-C tapes, which we bought for $8.99 at Magic Video. The camera worked great, and you can always buy tapes cheaper at home.

They ask for an imprint of your credit card to take a $300 deposit, but it is just for security, and was never put through. "Neal" at Magic Video was very nice to deal with too.

Hope this helps!
