When renting points is the room assigned at that time? If I want make a room view request like when doing online check in in a regular room is that possible? I know it's just a request and you may not get it but I didn't want to bother if a room is already assigned since I'm renting points and it's a studio so only so many are available.

Rooms are assigned by the resort, usually a day or so before arrival.

Doesn't matter if they were paid for with cash, points, or rented.

Yes, you can make a request when you check in online.

The resorts don't even typically get your rez until 7-10 days out and sometime after that Ops will start blocking rooms for those dates. Room requests generally go by seniority of the request, so the sooner you put in your request the more of a chance you have, though requests are ALWAYS just that….requests and are never guaranteed. If someone has a physical challenge and needs special room assignment that should always be mentioned at the time of booking as they DO block those rooms in advance.

Depending on the resort you're staying at the online requests are usually minimal and not necessarily appropriate for DVC.

You could be assigned to a room four days out and changed the morning you arrive. You really aren't assigned until your room is ready. Anything could change that assignment.

Also in the case of DVC, you likely won't be able to request a view that you are not booked for without needing more points - i.e. if you are are booked in a Standard View at AKL, you can't request a Savannah view as that would require more points. The front desk is not supposed to mess around with owners points but I have seen some reports on this board of the front desk charging an owner the extra points required for a higher point value room request when a renter requested that at check in. That would be a huge no-no.

I'm just hoping to get a room close the villa main elevator to be close to the exit. The actual view is not that important!! I heard beach club views are not all that any ways. :)

BCV is really a pretty small resort. So you won't be far from Epcot no matter where you are staying if that is what you want. If you want to be closer to the parking lot, you'll want the single elevator bay. The double elevator bay is more centrally located.

There are two elevators at BCV a...we find it easier and quicker to use the one not by the lobby but at the other end of the quiet pool. We cut through the pool area and along side the canal to get to the bus area

DVC also doesn't always take requests too seriously. In our almost fifteen years, we've never been allowed to choose, and when we've asked if anything else is available, they simply say no. And we've had a request met ONCE. When we checked into BCV they wouldn't tell us which side of the resort our room was on - same at VWL - just the floor. Making small talk with the CMs checking in - many of them have no idea where the rooms are other than what is on the map.

We've gotten some great rooms, and some not so great ones.
