Renting points question

Sorry if this is covered somewhere, but I think I'm just after clarification.

If I wanted to rent 250 points, would I need to rent the full amount from one owner? Because otherwise I'd have to get one owner to transfer their points to the other owner in order for them to make the reservation, and that's asking a bit much right?

You don’t really rent points. You rent a reservation made by an owner using their points.

So, if you need 250 points for the reservation you want, then you would need to find one owner who can book the entire thing for you.

Or, you would have to find different owners to book part of your stay and then ask each to put in a note to have them linked.

Now, if you are a DVC owner and want/need more points to book, you can seek a transfer into your account which can then use to book your own reservation using the transferred points by calling MS as they don’t show up online.

If you are not a DVC owner and you are looking for a rental that requires 250 points, you will want to look for someone with at least 250 points to make a reservation for you.

Trying to find and coordinate multiple DVC Members willing/able to transfer points between each other and then make a reservation would be a challenging proposition.

Having said that, there are members on our Rent/Trade Board with points in excess of 250 points. You would just need to check frequently and initiate contact quickly once they post their rental thread.

At this point in time, the biggest challenge we are seeing on the DVC Rent/Trade Board is availability within the next 7 months (7 months is when points from ANY DVC Member may be used for reservations). Many potential renters are now looking for reservations between 7 and 11 months for their reservations - especially at the more difficult to reserve DVC Resorts and villa types.

Studios are first accommodations to disappear from the availability list at all of the DVC Resorts..

We've rented before, but knew the owners. They're no longer owners so now we have to look into it in more detail
