Is there a way to rent points in increments to make the total required to establish a reservation. For example, renting from two individuals who each can offer 50 points to collect 100 total required for a stay at a resort. If so, how does the process of getting the reservation formalized work given the different members involved?:confused3

Thanks for the help.

Well, the answer is yes and no. You can not "pool" the points for any day, for instance, if your stay requires a total of 100 points, with 8 points per night on the weekdays, and 30 points on weekend nights, you can not reserve one of the weekend nights using 10 points from one owner and 20 points from another. You would need to rent 40 points from one owner and have them make the weekday reservation and 60 points from another owner and have them make the reservation for the two weekend nights, then have the owners link the reservation so you wouldn't have to move.

Or you could get 70 points from one owner for a 6 night reservation, and 30 points from another owner for a one night reservation, etc.

'Renting points' is a bit of a misnomer. You, as a non-member, can't do anything with points; only the owner of the points can make reservations. So, what you're actually doing is renting a reservation from a member.

If you can't find one member with enough points to reserve the number of nights you want, what you would do is this: Have member #1 make a reservation for the first part of your reservation, then have member #2 make a reservation for the second part. Then, the members will have Member Services link the two reservations, so there's a good chance you won't have to change rooms midway through your trip.

In addition to Chuck's comments, be aware that you are not really renting "points" - since they are of no use to anyone except the member who controls them.

What you would be renting is a reservation made using the DVC points. As noted, you would have no way to combine points from multiple members to make a reservation. If a single member does not have enough points to make your entire reservation you would need to have one member reserve as many days as they are able and then find another member/members to reserve the remaining dates. The reservations can then be linked together by DVC Member Services into a single stay where you would not need to change rooms.

Enjoy! :)

I understand. The 'linking' of reservations is the concept I did not know about. Excellent advice from wise Disneyphiles, no doubt.:worship:

I would find a owner with enough points for your entire reservation. It would your life easier in the long run and reduce the possibility of problems.

I definitely see the issue with trying to get different reservations set back-to-back for the same room type, particularly at high-demand times or on short notice. It would pose a risk.:scared:
