Renting points from multiple members for same stay

I am planning a trip for only 6 weeks from now. There are some good deals to be had on points about to expire. I am wondering if it is possible to rent points from more than one member to use on the same reservation. For example I would need 168 points for a one bedroom for five nights. I see 150 pts for sale for a very attractive price. It also looks like I could pick up the remaining 16 points from someone else for a pretty good deal. How would I go about setting this up? Is it an extra hassle for the member booking the reservation'? Thanks in advance for the help.

Problem is that there is likely no availabilty for 6 weeks from now. I think it would be hard for 2 members to get everything you need in such short notice.

You would have one member reserve as much as they could with their points and then have the second member reserve whatever is needed beyond that, but I agree with the previous poster. There really IS no likely to be much available at this short notice. We leave for an OKW and AKV trip 6 weeks from Tuesday, and we booked that way back last April!

This is why there is good deals on points getting ready to expire. I have decided to take a trip in Feb, well there is nothing in any room size in all of DVC. I have callled, stayed in touch, so guess what? We really need to go, we are meeting friends, so CRO. I just about passed out with the price. I have compared all the discounts, taken the one that I think is the best and still I am paying through the nose. I have Points, just nothing available. Good luck!

If you are not a member, you cannot manipulate the points in any way. You can only get a member to book full nights for you and then the multiple members would have to link the reservation. Or for the member to do a transfer from one member to another and they are only allowed one a year - plus they have to be current year points.

It's called 'renting points', but you're actually renting a reservation from a member. You wouldn't be amassing a pool of points from several members, because you can't do anything with points - only a member can make reservations with the points under their own contract.

What you'd want to do is have the two members make two separate reservations for you, and then link them together, so that you wouldn't have to switch villas partway through your trip. You could also use points for part of your stay, and do a cash reservation for the remaining days.

It would also be possible for the two members to do a point transfer - the member with 16 points would transfer to the member with 150. I don't know how likely you'd be to convince the members to do this,though, as we only get one point transfer per year, and they may not wish to use their only opportunity to do a transfer for a renter's convenience.

It is possible but difficult on such short notice. It would only be feasible for easy to get options.

I am eternally hopefull, however that I will be able to snag a last minute resv within my price range, if not, back to the moderate for us! Any trip to Disney is a good one.

You'd probably want to contact those members and if they're willing, have them check availability before you commit to a purchase of points. The likelihood of getting what you want w/in 6 weeks of travel is pretty slim.---Kathy
