Hello all, I'm not sure if this is the correct place for my question but I need help. I am planning on booking a vacation with the Disney Cruise line, I would love to do it with points. If I rent from David's is it worth it to apply towards the cruise line? can it even be done?:confused3

At $13 per point...or even $10 per point, renting will cost you more than paying cash through DCL. Renting is not a viable way to save money on cruises.

Yes, it can be done - but at more expense that paying cash directly thru DCL. If you are a DVC member with points you will otherwise be unable to use this year, the cruise can be a reasonable use of those points. However, the most cost effiicient way to use DVC points is for reservations at DVC resorts.

You'll pay more, probably only have access to a limited number of cabins, and may not be able to get your money back if you cancel. And, there's a $95 exchange fee. It's not something I'd recommend.

While I appreciate that you would contemplate renting points through me, I do not get involved with rentals for DCL for the reasons mentions.

It will be less expensive for you to buy your cruise directly through Disney, or better yet, through a travel agency that might offer extra incentives (on board credits, etc.). You will also have more flexibility this way, such as no booking fees, cabin selection, better cancellation terms and possibly better upgrade options.

But, if you ever need to stay at a DVC resort, I am the guy to contact :)

You'd generally pay about 1/3 to 2/3 more for the cruise than you would simply paying cash plus you'd pick up all of the additional risks and limitations as noted here. The cruise normally returns about $6-6.75 a point compared to early booking discounts.
