Renting Points for RIV When It’s Not the Home Resort

We have been trying to rent points for Poly for a trip in Sept, but not having luck with 11 month home resort point availability. So in anticipation of potentially not having availability at the 7 month mark we are looking at other resort options. I have noticed some points list specifically that they cannot be used for RIV on the rental board here. Is there something different renting points to use at RIV if it’s not the home resort?

Resale contracts bought after a certain date (around Jan 2019 I believe?) cannot be used to book Riviera stays.

They can be used at other resorts, including Poly.

Owners either buy their points directly from DVC or they buy them for less $ on the resale market. Those who buy directly from DVC get certain benefits that those who buy resale don’t get.
When Riviera went on sale a couple of years ago DVC introduced a new ‘resale restriction’ which limited anyone who purchased resale at all DVC resorts (except Riviera) after Jan. 19, 2019, from using those resale points to book Riviera.
So the listings which say they can’t book Riviera are from owners who purchased resale points after Jan. 19, 2019.
Note those who purchase resale Riviera points can only use those points to book at the Riviera & cannot book any other DVC resort w/ them.
