Renting Points During Resale Contract

Has anyone had success renting points from the seller of the contract they are buying? I'm working on a 252 point SSR resale at $113/point , the seller has 252 + 70 points for 2021 , I'd like to get a booking made to cover our trip just after Christmas but afraid the 60+ days it could take to close availability may close out.

Wondering if there has been any success on how to structure that rental so at the time of closing it could be credited back without putting the seller or buyer at risk should Disney take the right of first refusal or something else happen. Little risk on my side as I'm a cash buyer.

Thoughts on $113/pp at SSR? I have some time to keep looking

The seller can not make a reservation and then sell the contract with that still in play. They can agree to a delayed closing which means they don’t get paid until after the trip. The rental would have to be separate from the sale.

I can’t see any seller willing to hold up a sale for 9 months as there really is not much benefit to them.

A 250pt SSR was only $95pp last year, but ROFR has been strong since pushing it up.
I would think I would like more current year or loaded points for $113

I believe what I'm going to consider is just renting for our 2021/22 NYE trip and in parallel looking at AKL , BLT , or possibly even buying RIV direct for our Spring 22 or Winter 22 needs. That would seem to make more sense.

If I purchase a smaller 50 point contract at OKW on resale , and then once closed buy 50 points direct from Disney , would I get direct buyer benefits as a DVC member?

No it requires a 125 minimum direct points purchase. Your resale points do not count towards this number
