Just wondering what rates others are getting in October. Mine is the worst rate I've gotten ever. I have an intermediate booked through Emerald Aisle for $183 total for one week (10/15-10/22). In the past I've gotten ten days for almost $40 less than that. I am using the AmEx code and the entertainment book coupon for $20 off one week. I would like to have a car for our whole trip which concludes on October 26, but I just don't think I want to pay anymore than what I already am...especially with Magical express. :charac2:

Not national, but I have a rental from Alamo for almost the same days (10/16-10/23) for 158 for a midsize car. Its pretty sad that I rented a SUV over Memorial Day for 1 day less for $60 less. I really can't do magical express since we will spend way more than the $160 since we plan on doing Universal X2, Sea World, and Busch Gardens.

National's Emerald Aisle - Intermediate

Oct 21 thru Oct 29 (9 days)

$242. total with taxes/fees

Halloween week (9 days) $285 Standard SUV, includes taxes.

I'm using the weird NACDA convention code, but with Emerald reserve, I don't think I'll have a problem.

Last March I rented a minivan for 10 days same location. $160--what's up with these horrific rates?:confused3

I can empathize with all of you. We will be at Disney 9/19 - 9/26 (8 day rental). I was paying about what you all are posting for October and was very unhappy. :sad1: Lo and behold, the rates starting dropping dramatically yesterday for both National and Alamo. Even though I prefer National EA, I went with Alamo. Got a mid-size vehicle for 8 days for $107.50. :cool1: Hard to beat that . . . hopefully October will start dropping soon. Maybe a bit of pixie dust will help. pixiedust:

What did you use for the Alamo rental? I have not found much of anything for October yet. My trip is from Oct 5 to Oct 14 and I am about to start getting upset over these rates.

Anyone wanna help me out?

Brian

husker billy:

For my September rental, I used a Wal Mart code I found on www.mousesavers.com (which you should go to - Mary Waring gives great tips) and the printable e-coupon that is under Alamo's "Hot Deal" section. Wal Mart Code: 428448 and Coupon: AD1336ADK.

Hope that helps. :goodvibes

I must be going at a bad time....I did what you used, and it was $370 for an inter.

:guilty:

Thanks though...I'll keep trying

Brian

From 9/30 - 10/7 got a rate of $126.65 for an intermediate with National Emerald Aisle. Used the $20 web coupon code and the 10% off FL rental. This is down 60 bucks from what I first reserved it at and I had to do a brand new reservation, would not change it when I simply tried to modify my existing reservation.

So perhaps there is still hope that everyone else's October rental rates will come down.

I'm using a rate I got through my work. I think it may be a business account, but I have gotten close to that rate using the walmart code, and the $20 coupon

I'm right there with you. I have an intermediate 10/27-11/3 for $183.31.

In the past, the earlier you rented the better. But now it looks like prices drop about a month beforehand. Several folks have reported rate reductions for August and September. It will be our turn soon.

I am using Dollar and have a mini van for 10 days (10/19 - 10/28) for $378 with all fees and taxes. I used a code on from another post. The 7 day rate with the code is $189 plus the fees and tax. A month ago I couldn't find a mini van for under $500. Hopefully rates will drop further as October draws near. Good Luck.

We're using National EA 10/14 thru 10/20 and got $153 total. I can live with it, but, I am going to keep checking and hopefully get another $20/$30 off.
However, we need a minivan for 1/13 thru 1/20 and if prices don't come down we just may use ME (won't know what to do w/o a rental, though!!) The best I can do is with Dollar for over $400.....all the rest are $550 and up......no way will I pay that.

We have an Alamo minivan for Oct 6-14 (same dates as you Billy) for 283 US taxes incl. We used the Costco discount, but we also booked back in Feb.

I have a Midsize SUV for Oct 15-21 for $225 at Alamo using a $25 entertainment coupon and code. I'm hoping the rates drop too. What's up with the terrible rates for October :confused3

oct. Rates are quite a bit higher than sept. I just booked a couple of clients for Oct.
Oct 5-10 midsize $246. incl. all tax & fees.
Oct. 23-30 midsize $184 incl. all tax & fees.

compared to:
Sept. 14-20 midsize $90.88 incl. all tax & fees.

all are bjs membership w/ $20 bjs coupon

I know I got a good rate- 178 for a mid size SUV for 11 days. I was hoping that the rate would drop a bit as we got closer, even if we had to take a full size car instead. The rates have gone up a lot, then down a bit, but still not as far down as what I already have. It is for 9/8-9/18, pick up at MCO at 10:30 am, drop off at 3:30 pm. Plane is supposed to land at 10:45, so we probably won't get to the Alamo garage until a little after 11. Will they give us a problem because we're a half hour late?
