If you fabulouse DVC owners don't mind helping a newbie out... THANKS in advance...

We are in the process of renting points, Im so excited, BUT I have a few questions - It was told that SSR is the only resort available, does this mean EVERY DVC is booked? does that mean it is going to be insanly busy, Im a bit nervous :)

We are going the 1-8 of Jan 2012 - Im thinking of entering the kids in the Mickey Mile at the ESPN WWS - Im assuming we have to pay for this? or do park tickets count? and are there bus scheduled to drive there.

Can we get Magical Express for DVC resorts?

any other advice, id love to hear!! :)

If only SSR was available, that means that it was the only resort with availability for ALL of your requested dates - it could just be one of the days that is causing the problem. Since you dates cover New Year's Day, that is not surprising since it is the busiest time of the year through New Year's. It will be crowded the first few days of your trip definitely but will die off a bit then maybe another bump at the end due to the marathon.

I don't know anything about your other question about WWOS, but if you're talking about entering a Disney race - that would not be connected to your park tickets but is a separate activity and you pay to register for that.

And yes, you can use Magical Express.

As for Magical Express, yes it's available to any Disney owned & operated resort which includes the DVC resorts. You would need to give the member you are renting from your flight information as they are the ones that can add that. Magical Express is free to use.

thanks!

do buses run from the resort to the ESPN Sports complex? Ive never paid attention...

Im assuming we can request a room? is this a common thing? for a family mostly going to the parks .. unfortunatly I don't think we will be swimming as it will be in January - do they heat the pools?

Im so excited to be a part of the DVC club, even if just renting - we would love to buy in, just need to save up the initial costs!

From what I've heard, the only WWOS bus runs from DHS. So I think you would take a SSR to DHS bus, then transfer there. (Fortunately, DHS is the closest park to SSR)

I'm not certain if that DHS to WWOS bus is year round or only during certain events, though.

I wouldn't request a room, but the owner you are renting from can request a section of SSR. Yes, they heat the pools. We've been in January and it is hit or miss with the weather so maybe you'll enjoy some warmer weather. There is a new themed pool at SSR so this now makes two themed pools at this resort. Do some research and decide what section you would like to request, keeping in mind this is just a request and not guaranteed. Enjoy SSR, it's a wonderful resort.

My understanding is that the bus service between DHS and WWOS complex has been discontinued. OP - Be sure to ask before you count on it.

You might also try posting this specific question over on the Transportation Board. There are a few Disney bus drivers who post there and will know for sure.

I didn't realize there was a transportation board :)

this will be a marathon weekend...if that makes a difference!

People do not realize that the DVC resort fill up faster than the regular Disney rooms through CRO. If a DVC member does not use or bank their points they expire so everyone tries to use them up so the resorts are usually full at popular times.
