Renting DVC in December

We are thinking about planning a trip to disney from 12/10/08-12/18/08 and wanting to rent from DVC. Looking for advice on which resort to stay at with 2 adults, 2 children( 5 and 7) and probably with no car. Knowing that certain resorts book up fast, which resorts might actually have availability and is it harder to get a midweek reservation?

You can't rent from DVC. Do you mean you want to rent from an owner, such as using the rent/trade board?

You can make some reservations through CRO at Disney rack rates, but I doubt very much they will have your timeframe available.

In fact, it may be difficult to get those dates at all. Early December is probably the MOST popular time of all at DVC.

In fact, I'm going to guess you would have to be VERY flexible with which resort and size of villa for the upcoming December. Most owners book these up right at 11 months out, and only a few of the larger resorts will have anything available at all, and unit size could be iffy.

There is hope, Last year I rented points for a stay 12/17-12/20 in a one bedroom at OKW (could have made it a couple of days longer if I had wanted). I got it late September -- only a couple of months out. (it was a new reservation at that time). So I am just saying there is a chance, but I would try to get someone to make a reservation for you ASAP. I think a couple of the reasons I got lucky were that I wanted a one bedroom (not a studio) I was willing to take any resort (OKW is awesome though) and also my dates did not fall in the rock-bottom Dec.1-14 category (they were in the second-cheapest point category.)

You should find something depending on when you can go. We booked december in September a few years ago, and we got a GV at OKW. You may need to be a little flexible with dates, but you should get something.
