is even now a last minute deal?

Our dates are Dec 8-15 and don't seem to be a very busy week right now.

If I wait until November to book - do you think I'll be able to get a better deal? :confused3

Or should I try to find a good deal now since more is available at this point?

All homes are individually owned so it will depend on the owner. Always ask if they can do better on the price it can not hurt.

If you have narrowed it down to a couple of places you really like and they are all available, then it might be OK to wait. My experience was that there are tons of WH townhomes, but not really that many (judging on pictures) that I'd want to stay at. So if you're not picky, or you know your first choices are all available, then go for it.

Depends on what's more important to you: saving some money, or getting exactly the house you want. The pickier you are about the house you want, the less attractive a last-minute booking will look.

Each home falls somewhere on the "okay to stunning" scale. Each home also falls somewhere on the inexpensive to expensive scale. My experience has been that those that are both stunning and inexpensive get snapped up as early as a full year before the dates. Depending on how busy things are, you could really end up with the true leftovers by waiting to four weeks out, or you could have several nice deals to pick from.

In high travel times, I would not risk waiting. For the second week of December, it's probably a better risk. Weigh that against how much you think you are likely to save. While some owners will discount distressed inventory, others prefer to let the home sit empty to slowly build a clientele that is willing to pay full-freight.

We agree with Brian Noble - if you want a cheap deal you could wait; if you have [pecific requirements. the sooner you book the more likely you are to get what you want.

<--- just booked for Easter 2008. Many of the really nice ones are already booked. For the same price or less others are available, but not as nice amenities, locations, etc...

If you are looking for something specific I recommed book it when you find it. If you don't care about quality and no specific location, layout, bedding, you may be able to wait - but you are more at risk.

thanks - I do have things I want - and I think I've finally found a house that meets them all and the owners were willing to knock the price down into our range. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it works out....

Location was probably the 1st importance to me.
