Renting a small event room for Wedding Ceremony?

Hello,
Just got engaged in Disney World last Saturday :). We want to get married down in Disney World in 2014. I do not want to do the wedding packages they offer. I want to rent a small space for the ceremony, and then go run around Magic Kingdom with our family, friends, and guests afterwards.
Is there a complete list somewhere of all the places you can rent out for small events at the Disney Resorts? I'd like to avoid renting a spot at the parks, because I fear it may be out of my price range.
Can anyone help me out? I am having no luck finding ANYTHING.
Thanks!!!!

Checking for such areas at Swan or Dolphin may be your best bet. They are on property but since they are not Disney hotels they may not have the wedding restrictions of the other resorts.

Call the hotles and ask to speak to an events coordinator.

I don't know about venues, but I do know that you won't be allowed into MK in wedding attire. Everyone will have to change first.

Any wedding events on WDW property are very tightly controlled. I'm not sure that they will permit a wedding like you have described without going thru Disney Weddings. Otherwise, I agree with a PP that you might want to contact the Swan/Dolphin.

Weddings on WDW property would be very hard to accomplish on the DL without being found out. Event space is reserved through one central group, whether you're having a wedding or a convention. They're not easily fooled. Also many vendors, officiants, and photographers who regularly work Disney weddings are reluctant to participate in these kinds of events, as thy risk the ability to work on property in the future if caught.

The Swan and Dolphin offer very popular and affordable packages. DFTW also offers smaller packages for very small events.

You will not be allowed in the park in wedding attire, but you could definitely do a small ceremony in the morning at the swan for example, get changed, and do a private dessert party in Epcot. You'd arrange the in-park DP through Disney Catered Events directly if you did it this way. There are many past brides who did just that.

Yeah I figured Disney might be a little nuts about that. Well, we're having a pretty casual wedding to begin with, so I'm super flexible :) I did a little research about the no wedding attire. Is there an exact reason why?

Primarily, it's a safety issue. It's also to protect their right to restrict wedding events on property to those coordinated through Disney Fairytale Weddings.

If you want to enter the parks in wedding attire, an in-park photo shoot is your only option.

In-park photo shoots can be done for about $950 at Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, by any couple, even if you did not get married at WDW.

In park photos in the Magic Kingdom are reserved specifically for brides who got married through Disney's Fairytale Weddings. These shoots cost $1500 through 2013, and will cost $1700 starting in 2014.

In-park shoots are done before the park opens, and you're very restricted as far as locations and typically they transport you around the park with an escort from Park Management and the photographer. You have to use Disney Photography for any in-park events or photo shoots.

Have you considered Disney's Shades of Green? As long as you have 1 military sponsor you can have a ceremony on their property. Their rates for intimate weddings - less than 20 people total - start at $1500. The rate for the Magnolia package - up to 40 people - start at $2000. It includes quite a bit and you can add on to the package.

I'm going to move this over to the Weddings board, they'll know all the ins and outs on what you can do outside of the wedding packages. :)

Fulton's at Downtown Disney does weddings in its private rooms. Their rates aren't cheap, though, and you'd need to have a meal there to go with it. There are also small wedding packages offered at many of the hotels on I-Drive and, of course, the Swan & Dolphin and its restaurants. Coronado Springs does weddings at Rix Lounge.

Why ask why? :confused3 Their parks, their rules.

Because maybe she wanted to understand the reason behind the rule?????

I got married in the wedding pavilion and was devastated at the fact of not being able to wear my wedding dress in the park! ( this was before planning the actual day )
It ended up that we didn't even go to a park in the end but had a reception at Fultons

I don't think there was any need to be quite so rude!
