During our WDW trip next month, my parents and I will be staying at Saratoga Springs, then renting a car to drive to Vero Beach, before returning to SSR. Does anyone know if you can rent cars at the DVC resorts, or will we have to go to one of the resorts on Hotel Plaza Blvd? We really only need a car for the few days that we are at Vero Beach.

Hi

We stayed at SSR last year and rented a car to drive up to Hilton Head. We rented a car from the Car Care Centre, near the Magic Kingdom.

The run a shuttle bus service that will pick you up from SSR, you just phone them up and they will send one out to pick you up.

Hope you have a great trip. We're also doing Saratoga and Vero, but later in the year and I can't wait.

Since you're staying at SSR you might want to try to rent at Dollar located at Grosvenor Resort right next to DTD, call ahead to schedule a pick-up or from SSR take the bus to DTD(marketplace) then walk to Grosvenor. Check availability online at dollar.com and try to use promotional code KISSE or rate code KISS, we reserved a compact car which is less than $20/day and got a PT Cruiser which is roomy.

On our trip in December we rented from the Dollar located at Grosvenor. We would not do so again. The service was very slow. There were two customers ahead of us and we waited over an hour just to pick up the car. When the agent went over the details she told us that the gas tank was 3/4 full and to be sure to return it 3/4 full or we would pay over $4 per gal. When we returned the car the original agent actually marked the "chart" as FULL and Dollar wanted to charge the difference. Really this was our fault for not verifying what she wrote down and a lesson learned. Intentional or not (on the part of the original renting agent) it was costly for us and poor service. We are used to renting a car with a full tank of gas so this was frustrating trying to return it with 3/4 of a tank and then having the problem with with the chart showing a full tank. This issue could happen with any car rental agency, but for us this poor service was costly and very unpleasant.

There is an Alamo desk at the Wyndham Palace (I believe). We dropped off the car and walked back to SSR, thats how close it is.....

Oh my God, same thing happened to us, actually we just got back a week ago. DH was the one who picked up the car while me and my son stayed at the resort, good thing, caused he waited about 45 mins in line to get to the counter I agree their service is very slow (We thought it was just one those days...) Anyways we were not in a hurry that day didn't plan to go to any parks so that was fine, now about the gas, same thing per DH the gas was 3/4 full when he got it, and returned it 3/4 full, the agent questioned it saying that we should've returned it full and DH told him that it was only 3/4 full and the previous agent knows about it ( i think he gave him the name) I hope this is not a some kind of a scam. I guess i have to check my CC statement when i get it and see if they charged us more than what we're supposed to.

Wow! I just figured it was our bad luck. I wonder if anyone else had this experience. Two could be an accident but three or more would lead me to believe there is some scam going on!

In February we did a few days at Vero before heading back to SSR. We rented a car from the airport (Alamo) and used it in Vero. When we got to SSR we dropped it off at the Swan/Dolphin. They have an Alamo center there. Then we just walked to Epcot.

I think I've heard that you can also pick up cars from that location.

Yes you can pick up cars at the Dolphin(just been doing my research for getting a car for a few days at Thanksgiving).
