Renting a car for one day

Has anyone ever rented a car from National on Disney property for one day only? We're staying at the Polynesian and want to take one day to go shopping. I've heard that there is a shuttle from the Polynesian to the National Car Rental place. Are the shuttles timely, or will we need to plan a lot of time for waiting? Anyone remember what it cost for a one day rental?

We rented a car for one night (24 hours) from National at the WDW Dolphin resort. We just walked over from Epcot and picked it up and I was able to make the reservation on the National Website. You can go to the website to check costs but I think our cost was about $30 with DC discount.

I have returned a car to the Car Care Center's National location and found the shuttle service to be very timely and efficient.
