Rental wait times through David's and DVC rental... at what point should I give up?

@Wells Larsen , if you want a BWV studio for early December, ask for and plan for a Pool/Garden view. If there is a BWV owner willing to rent, those are usually fairly easy to get at 11 months. It's the standard views that most are competing for. IMO, those are easier to get than CCV or BLT standard in December.

If you use a broker, the bigger challenge could be their ability to attract a BWV owner willing to rent his/her points.

Thanks! Yea, that's exactly what I am going to do. It was never a necessity for my wife and I to get a Standard Room. It's just that we don't care about the view all that much, and I figured why pay for a view when we don't care. Now that I know the Standards are incredibly sought after, I know to avoid it. I would much rather lock in something easy to get at Boardwalk or Beach just to be within walking distance to Epcot & HS.

All I really care about is being close to an exit/stairs or an elevator on a low floor. I am incredibly impatient with slow elevators, so that's typically a desire with every hotel I stay in.

BWV has only one elevator bank. The hallways are very long (think Redrum long!) but there are many staircases along the way if you don't mind climbing a few flights. We tend to walk down but take the elevator up.

That may not happen at BWV. There are better properties for that. BWV is known for the endless hallway.

Aside from the long hallways, that actually sounds perfect to me. I would probably request first or second floor. Walking down stairs is actually more difficult than walking upstairs for me (bad knees / good hamstrings), but I could certainly handle 4 flights if that's what I was given.

I'm a DVC member, stayed at BWV at the end of April. Called in my room requests to DVC member services. Requested ground floor and close to elevator. Received 4th floor and at end of the long hallway...so may be taking a chance if you want those requests at BWV.

@Wells Larsen , if you want to request a location for a DVC rental at any resort, the owner is the one to submit it to Member Services. They can do it via chat, email or phone call. As above, no requests are guaranteed. It sounds like you would want to request Low Floor, Near Stairway for BWV. Good luck, and wherever you end up, have a nice trip!

I'm wondering if it was requests-plural that worked against you.

I've long heard one should select what is most important to you and make a single request.

Seems to work for us more often than not. But, maybe the pixies simply like DH, who does our booking. I'm rather fond of him myself. ;)

Doesn't help that everyone asks for near the elevator at BWV. Becomes a meaningless request.

BWV are virtually always full. Getting a request is highly dependent on how many guests are checking out the day you check in. It's best to request only one or two things with the more important listed first. The more general requests have the best chance of being granted.

We stay at the BWV almost every time & have been quite fortunate with requests. Even when we are assigned a room I didn't request, it was easy to find something to like about the location. We are able to do stairs & prefer the quieter rooms. Those rooms closer to the elevator bank are noisier - most of the noise at the BWV comes from the hallways, not the next door neighbors. The little children running in the halls & chattering excitedly are much less annoying than the parents trying to get them to be quiet, LOL. During the afternoons, the worst noise comes from the Feature pool - i.e., the loud speaker & pool games. If you have a Pool/Garden view & value quiet, request a room overlooking the leisure pool or the croquet lawn. We love the BWV - IMO, it's location is the best on property!

We, on the other hand, have had lousy luck getting request met at BWV. We tend to end up in the middle - the middle of the resort on a middling floor. I suspect that the requests are all "high floor" or "low floor" or "close to elevators" or "across from bus stop" (which is the end of the hall) - leaving lots of middle rooms available. As you said, we've always found something to like about the location. Since everyone in the party can take stairs, its really never been an issue. But I would never count on getting a request met - or even close - at BWV. And learn the stairs - if your party can take them - the stairs at BWV are almost wormholes through space bringing you to secret entrances and exits.....
(And the requests have been simple - like "high floor")

I wasn't overly enamored of my stay at BWV, but I do remember some *amazing* exit points.
