rental vs. buses?

I pondered this question before I left and would like to share my experiences just in case I can help someone else decide.

We rented our car through Dollar and zipped right through by using their Fastlane. I used a coupon they sent me after I enrolled in Fastlane, and got upgraded from economy to a mini-van. It was just supposed to be one level, but nothing else was available! All for base rate of $120 ($160 w/ darned taxes)

No problem driving to WDW, all roads clearly marked.

I used the van to load up on snacks and breakfast foods at a local Publix.

We used the van for EE mornings after seeing the lines at the bus stops. We didn't want to give up precious sleep time to wait in line for the buses.

We did use the bus when we went to MK in the afternoon or for Eride nights. Buses were waiting when we left MK.

We should have used the bus for downtown D, took a half hour to cruise for parking.

I thought we would have left the property more often to eat, but it was not convieninet from ASSp. We only ate outside when we went to DD and when I picked up subs at foodstore.

Hope this helps. I'm glad we rented, and would do it again - budget permitting! Time is a precious commodity when in WDW!!

There's actually an easy way to get to a food area near the All-Stars... but it's kind of hidden. If you hop on the Osceola Parkway as if you're going to Animal Kingdom, stay left as if you're going to AK Lodge. At the traffic light, take a LEFT. (Shurberth Road... something like that) That road will link you with 192, and all the tourist trap places to eat on there. :)

There's also a Publix, and a not horribly priced gas station right near there.

I think it's Sherberth rd. :)

Tyler, when driving along that road to 192, you pass the back of an apartment (?) complex. Do you know what it is? Are the rentals? It looks pretty nice!

Are they apartments? I always figured they were tourist condos/timeshares/whatnot... *shrug*
