Rental Reservation in Nov - change to my new member account?

I have a question I need some input on.

I have a rental reservation for BLT Thanksgiving Week:cool1:
(No exchange of funds yet)

Just closed this week on a small resale at WLV :goodvibes
I don't have enough points on my contract for the BLT thanksgiving week. Plus I made this reservation prior to the 7 month mark to ensure I got BLT.

So... I am wondering... how hard would it be to get this transferred into my name/member number?

I guess that would be IF the member I am renting through is willing/able to trasnfer those points to me. But would they have to cancel the reservation, transfer points to me and then I would have to make a new reservation? Would I possibly 'lose' this if others are on wait list?

It would probably be easier to leave as is, but while I have no reason to doubt this member I am renting through, understandably I would feel more secure if the reservation was in my own name.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm fairly certain the other owner would have to cancel the existing reservation to free up those points, then transfer the points to your account(assuming he is willing to part with his 1 transfer per year) and then you could try to make the new reservation yourself, which may be difficult at this point given the season and newness factor of BLT.

You can't transfer an existing reservation into another member's account.

The reservation can't be transfered.

The other issue is that you made a deal to rent a reservation. How would you feel if the owner decided not to rent after you thought that you had a deal?

You might contact the owner and see what they say, but I hope that you do the right thing and stand by your word. :goodvibes

The points that were rented to you may not be available for transfer. They could be banked, borrowed, transferred, or a different UY and not compatible with your reservation or your new account.

There are alot of caveats and it is not as easy as you may have assessed.

Agree with the others, you would most likely lose your reservation and your renting member if you try to make changes now.

My suggestion would be to keep the reservation as a rental and look for transfers in the future.:wizard:

Thanks for the feedback. That is sort of what I thought, but just wondered if it was possible. I had no intention of backing out of the rental deal.. so don't beat me up please. I am new to DVC as of this week and just wasn't sure how that part worked.

thanks

I didn't mean to beat you up. Sorry... :grouphug:

Since you are not the owner of the points used to make the reservation, you cannot call MS about it either. Sorry. The member who made the reservation owns it until you check in.
