Hi everyone,

I am planning to rent a vacation home, VRBO Listing #12787. The communication so far with the owner has been great. One point of concern is that she does not want security deposit. She wants a credit card on file for possible damages. She said that any charges will be discussed with me before it will be charged.

I was thinking of buying rental house insurance from VRBO. I got a promotional email from VRBO about it and it will only cost $49. Has anyone had experience with this type of insurance? especially from VRBO?

I really want to proceed with renting the house. Everyone in my traveling party loves it.

I would want a rental agreement that carefully laid out the terms and would probably take lots of pictures right before I left the unit. Even better, if they have local management, it would be nice if they would inspect the unit before you left and give you an all-clear in writing.

I would rather leave a credit card than give a deposit that you might have trouble getting back. At least there is a dispute process for the credit card.

As long as the owner has good reviews, I would probably be comfortable with this.

I have never had any problems with security deposit (credit card hold).
Regarding the rental house insurance from VRBO, you should read their terms to make sure what it covers.
