Rental homes near Universal Studios

I'm getting overwhelmed with the amounts of rental home neighborhoods.

If we were planning a Universal/Seaworld stay, where would be the most convienent area to look for ?

All the development names are running togehter.

I don't mind a drive, for a fantastic property, if that helps. Thanks!

As far as I know, there are no rental home communities near Universal. I believe it has something to do with zoning laws. The rental home areas are along 192, 27 and further South.

So no one is able to rent homes near Universal at all?

No private owner at all in that entire area can rent out a house?


I know there are large properties like Windsor Palms etc, but am just looking for something closer than 27, 192 and such.

I can understand the lack of a preplanned community, but am just looking for development names where some rental homes may occur.

I know Universal is up against the Dr. Phillips area. Does anyone know development names in the Dr. Phillips area?

Yep, I believe that's the case. Properties in that area can't be zoned for short term rentals. That is a different county than the area of Kissimmee South of Disney.

Interesting. I've rented out homes that I have owned before, and had never heard of a zoning issue.

Of course, whether someone rents a home and whether it is LEGAL to rent the home may be two different things. There is also a difference between someone just casually renting out their own home for a week or doing a home exchange type of deal vs. purchasing a property for the sole purpose of renting it on a weekly basis. The latter requires a business license and compliance with various other regulations. Certain communities don't allow that type of business because they don't want the transient guests coming and going. I seem to recall hearing that rentals in that area must be for a minimum of 30 days. They did that to purposely discourage short-term rentals.

Maybe the community where you rented your home didn't have the same licensing requirements.

Disney steve is corect some counties do not allow short term rentals but only long term ones and the majoirty of str are closer to Disney than universal .There is however a community called Magic Landings which almost as far eats as is allowed so maybe doing a search for that will come up trumps for you -but we warned it isn't finished so you may have building gong on near by.

If I could've found one I would've rented it in a second! I love renting homes but always have to make the trip to Universal from the 192 area because of the zoning laws.

Wow. I have never heard of a zoning issue with rentals, but it does make sense.

And Yes, Robin, I am sure you would find it before I would!
