Cars land is sucking us in! They did it! My son is the biggest 4 year old Cars fan on the planet. we have almost every cars toy invented, even cars that most of you do not even know exist! although we do Diz World 3 times per year, never been to Cali. We stay of site in condos and rental homes at the World. Anything like that near Diz Land? any off site recommendations for Cali?

I would not rent a house in the area only because the traffic is AWFUL! So unless you live and drive in a highly dense area like NYC, I would just stay in on of the many hotels in walking distance.

I would just do a hotel unless you are going to stay for longer than a week.

We do have a timeshare that has a full kitchen and either a fenced-in yard or a large balconey. These were very nice 10 years ago but we haven't stayed there since 2001. They have rooms available like a regular hotel yet they have afternoon snacks and activities for kids.

I would check tripadvisor.com to see where they stand now on things.

In the sticky thread over on Disneyland board, find "HydroGuy's Hotel Rule". At DLR, you really want to be within walking distance, and its a great read.

The only real condo-type places within walking distance are the Villas at the Grand Californian for which you could rent points on this board and it would be much cheaper than staying at the GCH, but probably more expensive than you're used to for a condo at WDW, and the Wyndham Worldmark on the corner of Harbor and Katella (I think that's the location). You might be able to find somebody to rent you a week there that they have reserved, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for info. Plan to only spend two days at Disney. Want Cars Land only for Diz. Then LegoLand, San Diego zoo, SeaWorld, and some other SoCal attractions. We have 8 people in tow, so we rarely use hotels. The cost of renting multiple rooms (we need at least 3 rooms for our group) and buying food for 8 never adds up to even be close to renting a full house and cooking for ourselves, at least in Orlando and in the Caribbean, where we normally go to. Will have to learn more about SoCal to see what the way to go for this is.... been to Diz so many times in Orlando, blwoing my mind to start all over as a novice for DizLand. But, my son is the biggest Cars fan and I feel compelled to get him to Cars land to fight the crowds when the magic is still there for him. He is 4 and I know if I wait until he is 6 or 7 the magic will not quite be the same as this age. Any other tips will help. I did not even know there was a DL board, so I am over to there to explore now!!:wave2:
