rental HELP what am I doing?

Hi I need help!

I haven't rented a car in YEARS and not online ever ....

For 4 days Tues till late Friday, least expensive car ........

I go to National and get a rate of 193.96
Alamo is 138.62

Big difference... WHY ???

I used no codes either....

1. why such different rates in same area?

2. what codes can I use? (I do not have AAA or ent book)

3. I can change my rental to the beginning of my trip too ... say THUR till Mon , but it will be New Years weekend then, is that a good or bad move ??


I just want to be able to get to Universal and need airport transporatation to POP, so I figure only having to hire a car one way and use the rental for Universal and the other way.

Ideas ??????

Alamo and National are owned by the same company. Reserving online is easy, just keep any coupons you aquire with you when you pick up. Do you have a BJs membership, a Disney Visa or a travel agency associated with your place of employment? They have coupons for discounts on rentals. Any friends or neighbors have an Entertainment Book?

Alamo is the official car rental company of Disney, maybe that's why their rates are cheaper? We like having a car at all times so it makes sense to me to rent it early. Try L&M at the airport, their rates seem low at times without coupons.

No, you don't give any credit card info, just your name and arrival dates and times. You can cancel online or on the phone anytime. Sometimes I have several rentals reserved so I can get the best price depending on what coupons come up, etc....I just remember to cancel the ones I'm not using. I have two Entertainment Books (04 and 05) if you want any coupons. Sign up for their email too when you go on the websites to check and they periodically send info about specials.
