Hi all,

We are driving from the Chicago area for our trip in Sept/Oct and will be renting a car instead of putting the miles on ours. We will probably use National, but this may apply to any company. If we have car trouble on the trip - one of my biggest fears - does the rental company give you a new one from the closest place? Any one have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Ty

Just from having worked in rental, I can tell you that our practice was to put any customer who experienced a breakdown into another vehicle. The call would go to our 1-800 number, through our national HQs, then to nearest branch. Hope this helps!

I had this happen once in Ohio..... power steering gave out an EA rental. I was 2 hours from the airport I picked up the car from. Called the 800 number and they brought me another car (from a location 1 hour away) and put my original rental on a flatbed to take back. Took a couple of hours but I had absolutely NO problem and they were very nice about it. Also no problem when I turned the car back in at the airport. HTH!

Once while staying at the Boardwalk we had a problem with the National rental car. They delivered a new car to us in a short period of time. They were very good about it.

Dont worry about that...just call them, they will get you a new car and you'll be on your way again.

Have fun on your vacation!
