Rental Car While @WDW Poly
I am planning for our 2004 WDW/DCL vacation and need some advice on renting a car. In essence I have booked two vacations: (1) a 4 night pre-cruise stay at the Poly(with plans to visit downtown Orlando...Wonderworks, Ripley's) with a party of 4 and (2) a 7-night cruise after the WDW stay with a party of 3. I purchased tranfers from the hotel to the dock and from the dock to the airport. I figure I will purchase transfers(from Mears) to get the four of us (3 one-ways and 1 roundtrip ,for the one person who is not going on the cruise, from MCO to the Poly.

What I need help with is getting a rental car while staying at the Poly. We only want the car for the day so that we can hit a few places in downtown Orlando. If anyone has any sugesstions, I would be greatly appreciative. Note we are not leaving until August, so we have time.

You can rent a car from national at the Disney car care center, which I believe is on the way out of the magic kingdom parking lot, and very easy to get to from the Poly. Also, National has a rental place at the Dolphin.
