Hi there,
We are doing a split stay. We'll be onsite for 3 nights and then we'll be picking up my older son and a friend at the airport and staying at Bonnet Creek for 5 nights. We'll need a big SUV or minivan to fit all 6 of us. I did a quick look at Uber and with two trips to the airport and one trip a day each way in UberXL it seems like we'll come out ahead with Uber and not have to bother with parking. My middle son has a illness that causes fatigue and pain. A friend recommended Uber because they can pick us up right outside the park and not have to bother with a tram and parking. Thoughts? We don't have Uber in our town yet so I'm not sure how it all works.

Uber or Lyft are definitely viable options for transportation to and from the parks from WBC. Because of transportation agreements at the airport, you can't take an UberX or Uber XL FROM the airport (but you can take one back). Well, you CAN get an Uber but it needs to be their UberBlack service, which is a higher rate (like a towncar service.) Also to note, Uber won't be able to pick you up outside of the MK, they'll either pick you up at the TTC or at the Contemporary (which would be a walk via the walkway) But the other parks they'll pick up near the taxi stand...so I don't know if Uber would be a time or walking savings for your DS. Where I think it would come in handy, though, is if he wants to call it a day earlier than others in your party. You could split up and not have to go back at the same time.

Following ... we are in a similar situation. Party of 5 with 2 separate families. Split stay with 7 nights at Bonnet Creek and 2 nights at Royal Pacific Universal. Leaning towards a car rental for the entire duration with the occasional Uber/Lyft ride if our party splits up.

Rental cars are inexpensive in the Orlando area compared to other places. However, Uber can be cost effective as well with $10 each way trips. You have to figure out what is the best route to go. Personally, I would do Uber if your other choice is renting a car.

I asked this question previously on here and most voiced that rental cars are cheap so that was preferred. The # of people in the party and # of trips (not just to/from the park, but dining, groceries, etc) may help you decide.

Totally agree with this! I think you have to figure out about how many trips you will need to pay for and then get an estimate on a rental, the only way to know what will be cheaper.
