We aren't going to Disney World until Feb., 2007 but still, I have a question for anyone who has any advice. We are staying at The Disney Beach Club Villas and would like to stop at a grocery store on our way to our resort to stock up on perishables. Should we rent a car (for one day) at the Airport and get our groceries on our way to our resort or should we go with Orlando's Quick Silver limo. and car service which offers a 30 minute stop at a preferred grocery store on our way to our resort? Any advice? What do you think the advantages/disadvantages or of both?

I absolutely love having my own car (rental) when I goto WDW. I like to take a hour or so and cruise around Celebration or head up on I-drive. Sometimes its a nice get-away after a long day in the parks plus its extremely convenient such as in your case to go grab groceries and such. Just my two-cents worth! :teeth:

I understand there are online sites that you can order groceries from and have them delivered to your resort. I believe one is something like wegoshop.com. Have never used this but it's likely cheaper than renting a car for a day or using a car service. If you this route you can use the free Disney Magical Express to your resort and back to the airport.

We'll be there in Feb. 2007 too! We're renting a car.....I MUST have one. I really dislike waiting for Disney transportation and love the ability to drive to Winn Dixie wherever I want, whenever I want.

That being said, depending on what resort you're staying at it may not make sense. We stay at OKW so our car is right there outside our room whenever we want it. When we stayed at Beach Club Villas that was not the case. Anytime we wanted the car we had to call valet and wait. It was a LONG walk from where we could get the car to our rooms so at a place like that it may not be worth it.

Just my thoughts!

Thank you all so much for the advice. I didn't know there was a service which delivered groceries to our Villa. Wow, that is exciting. I will have to check up on that. Do you think there is a minimum amount that we need to spend to use the service?

Jill - What is OKW? My family and I are kind of knew to all the Disney slang lol. My husband and I took our nine year-old daughter and our six year-old son to Disney for the first part of June, 2004. We stayed at the Beach Club Villas for ten days and we had the most AMAZING TIME OF OUR LIVES!!!!!!! The weather was a bit warm. Even the native Floridians said it was unseasonably warm for the first week of June. Our first and second days in Orlando were very mild and tolerable then Tropical Storm Arlene hit on June 11th and it was 96 degrees for the remaining 8 days! We thought we’d try February for our second trip and deal with much cooler temperatures this time around lol.

Thanks again for all your advice everyone. I REALLY appreciate it!

Kathy

Ahh one of the many reasons I love OKW! So nice to have the car right there - I completely agree.

I would rent a car. You can get off 417 at Celebration exit and turn right to go to 192, go right again and get in left turn lane to go to Publix.
When leaving Publix go right up to Gaylord Palms which is on Osceola Pkwy and go left to get into WDW.Less than 10 minutes out of Publix and your in WDW.
Keep the car for other things you might want to do like visit Celebration the town Disney built.
Have a good time all the time.

It seems to be cheaper to rent a car for one day, to go to the port, then rent it again to go from the port back to the airport. (Not staying at Disney Resorts this time). Has anyone done this?
