This could go here, the transportation board, or one of the Disney boards, so not sure where to put this. As I said in the Southwest thread, we've booked plane tickets for cheap rates. We were planning on driving, but couldn't pass up the deal.

Now, the question, to rent a car or not. I know we can use ME and are staying on site so getting around Disney won't be an issue. We also have no plans for anything offsite except meals.

However, I don't like the thought of paying Disney prices for every meal. With a car we could pick up some breakfast food/snacks, and drive to dinner. Could have lunches (and a couple ADR's) in Disney, but I would think eating off site would save quite a bit. As well as eating, things like beverages. Would be nice to buy a case of water, and not have to worry about paying for it through Disney.

I also know we could use a grocery delivery service for the snacks/breakfast/water. Then we're just stuck eating dinners at Disney.

Do places deliver to Disney properties? I've looked at Giordano's pizza, do they deliver? Can we get other pizza or subs or something delivered?

Sorry I've rambled on, but my ultimate question, is it worth an extra $400 for a rental car, or should we just use a grocery service and eat all our meals at Disney and try delivery?

Don't know what your dates are , but Dollar car rental rates dropped today. I just got a standard size for $155.13 for Sept 24th through Oct 1st today.
Personally we never go without a car rental. We like the extra options and freedom it gives. You can eat offsite ,or pick up food for the room at a supermarket near by and not have to wait till they deliver it. As much as we love Disney I don't want to feel that we are held hostage doing everything on property.

I got a car from carrentals.com for $160/week for this week(we are here now). This was a midsize and was through Advantage rental. I think it's worth it to have a car, even though you are staying onsite.

If you are a costco member you can get good rates with them. we are going to be renting an SUV for hundreds less through Enterprise with our membership. We normally fly and then use the buses, but we decided to try a rental this year.

Flippers pizza delivers. We had them deliver to pop. Just had to meet them in lobby. Good pizza.

For years I have used Disney Transportation only. Magical Express from the airport, using Disney buses, boats ect. to the parks and the occasional taxi to a resort for a meal.

In May 2013, I noticed that the buses took longer to arrive and they were more crowded.
The final straw for me was the Magical Express bus from POR to the airport. It stopped at 3 resorts after POR, took forever to load up and I got to the airport only 45 minutes before my plane left!

It took 30 minutes to get through security and when I got to where my plane was, they were already boarding. I'm the type of person who wants to be sitting in the boarding area 30 minutes before the plane leaves relaxing. So I was stressed and a bit frustrated with Magical Express.

So I've decided that on my next trip, I will be renting a car and using that primarily. I can't wait to see how it goes.

As far as offsite food - I've always thought my time was just as valuable so I didn't mess with trying to leave the property to eat. I plan my ADR's around the parks I'm in most of the time to keep things simple.

I have heard that there are pizza places that deliver to the resorts. I'm sure more people will post who can give you that info.

Have a great trip!
