Hi,

We are trying out Aulani in June. We have only been to Hawaii once before and it was a company trip, so no rental car. Since we have no experience with renting at HNL I just thought I would see if anyone knew what an acceptable/reasonable rental cost would be. I have a full size car from Budget for a week total with taxes and fees it's $320. That sounded decent to me, but again I don't have anything to compare it to. If anyone can weigh in on what they think about this rate, it would be greatly appreciated. I will continue to check for a better rate regardless but just wondered how this first one compared.

Thanks.

$320!!!! OUCH!!!!!:scared1:

We were there in September and had a full size car from HNL for 8 days for $197.00....and this is from Hertz, typically the most expensive.

I've never paid anywhere near $320 for a week rental full size....anywhere....I always do Hertz, except recently at MCO where Enterprise has beaten them overall.

Try Kayak to compare.

Also, many companies lower their price in the weeks and days before the rental, the exact opposite of airlines. We booked, then re-booked for HNL twice before getting the price I mentioned there....we got that price about a week before showing up.

Thanks so much for the heads up that the rate is too high. We travel within the continental US enough that I feel comfotable with knowing rates from various cities but Hawaii is definately something I am not sure of when it comes to rental car cost. I assumed everything in Hawaii was expensive including to rent a car which is why I thought the $320 wasn't too bad.

I always continue to check our rental rates as you say until the very last minute just in case anything changes. I will also do this with our Aulani trip, but now I will really be focused toward what I should be paying since I have a better idea.

Thanks so much for your reply, you were very helpful! :thumbsup2

Thanks for letting me know your rate. It is in line with what vacationclub has also posted. I definately have a better idea of what I should be paying and will continue to look and hopefully find something within this price range.

Thanks I linked to the site and am now waiting to hear back from them. I appreciate the tip. :goodvibes

I rec'd an e-mail already $264 with taxes/fees from Alamo. I already have an e-mail from Alamo as well. A bit more than what has been listed by others, but cheaper than what I got.

Thanks Again.
