Rental car drop off around Disneyland

Wondering if anyone had insight on dropping off a car rental around Disneyland property. We are staying at GC.

I know Alamo has a small office in Downtown Disney, is it easy to drop off at that location?

Or is it better to drop off nearby on Katella? If so, how do we get back to GC?

I'm not stuck on any rental company in particular, just don't want to waste valuable vacation time dropping off a car.

I've rented from and returned to the Alamo DTD location, though it's been a while (Oct. 2014). The cars are parked (and returned) in the GC self-parking lot, behind the AMC. When you return, you just park in that lot, make a note of the space number, and drop the keys off at the office (on the west side of the AMC building, facing DLH). If it's outside office hours, there's a drop box/mail slot to leave the keys in.

The office on Katella isn't too far to just walk - according to friends who rented from National at that shared office.

We've used Katella. They have a shuttle to bring you back. But the walk is nice if you prefer.

Hmmm...how would I know if they changed it? I'd hate to go into GC self parking lot (as ericopia) described only to be told to move it.

No doubt, dh will drop us off at GC front so we can check in while he returns car. Would the cast members working outside direct him what lot to go to? Would they know?

I have rented from a couple places on Katella. They are great about picking up and dropping off from the hotels.

BTW we found Alamo rental through Costco was our cheapest option. Even cheaper than our preferred Avis membership

Thanks! I'll check that out. We have military but sometimes it's not the deepest discount.
