Rental Car Confirmations HELP

I have had several rental car reservations. If I get a better deal, I cancel the one and make another.

Well, we have Alamo for $330 for mid SUV for 11 days from June27 - July 7. I started playing around with numbers again and I could get the SUV from Alamo for $312 if I prepay. I could live with prepay, so I went ahead and TRIED to reserve it. However, when putting the info in, I could not because it couldn't verify my CID number on my CC. There was a number on the screen for technical help so DH called. After 45 minutes of being transferred here and there, the guy gave us a confirmation number and his name, stating that he would reserve it for us WITHOUT having to prepay.

BUT the issue is that he could not email ANY confirmation details because he said he had to use another format that is not connected to email.....Hmmm.....

I tried to pull it up online and said I could not. It said:Unable to view reservation - modified rate attached. Please call 1-800-GO-ALAMO for further information.

Has anyone dealt with this type of thing? I am afraid to cancel my $330 reservation because I do not want to get there and they say they do not see a reservation for us.:eek:

Anyone out there???? I do not feel it is fair for me to have 2 ressies, but I have no paper confirmation to prove I have the reservation. Just a confirmation number and a name. Does someone have a suggestion????
 
Do you have a confirmation for the $330 mid SUV? If so, I wouldn't cancel it, just to be on the safe side.

Can they mail you a written confirmation for the $312 SUV? Or if you have an Alamo near your home, maybe you can go in and they can print the confirmation for you. You might also try rebooking the $312 SUV on-line and see what happens.

Have never had this happen to me with Alamo, but it did happen with a recent Hilton reservation. I had to separate 2 reservations under one reservation number. They were able to do it, but for some reason, the system wouldn't let me see the modification online. Had me nervous. I kept calling to confirm, and all worked out.
 
I don't think Alamo permits 2 ressies @ same time by same person...there have been reports of problems posted here last summer.

Are you saying you have 2 different confirm #s and you can't retrieve them online - if so, I'd call & ask to speak to a supervisor & request a confirming email to print out for peace of mind.
 

Yes, I have 2 Alamo reservations. Well, I think. I did not think about trying to see if Alamo erased my 1st ressie. I thought about calling them today to see if they could mail me something. For some reason, they told us that since we called about the reservation, there computer system was not able to email us a confirmation. He did, however, give us a confirmation number.

It was for a prepay price, but Derek (the person we talked to) said since we were on the phone patiently for 45 minutes, we did not need to prepay. So if a better price came up, I could cancel and rebook without penalty.

I think I will check online about the 1st ressie. Then I will call Alamo about the 2nd ressie and see if they could mail or email me something.

I just got an email confirmation through Alamo about my Trailblazer type vehicle for $312.36 for 11 days. My other reservation is not cancelled, also through Alamo, which I will cancel in just a few. Whew...I was concerned that my reservation did not go through! Yeah!!!
