Is it safe for a solo traveler to rent a car offsite at MCO - around 10pm at night.

Should I even try to rent from someone whose company is not open 24/7?

Trying to decide what rental car companies to start pricing and looking for the opinions of experts!!!

Although I prefer the onsite places, Hertz and Thrifty are offsite and safe; they have big buses that are always sitting right at the airport for pickups 24 hours, and they are in the neighborhood right by all the airport hotels (Marriott et. al.). Onsite is definitely the most convenient, though, since the counters are right inside the airport and the cars are right across the street, in the garage. I would NOT rent from an "off brand" offsite place because some of those are in rougher areas, like around the FL Mall. That's not a place I would want to be alone at night...too easy to get lost when you leave. Hertz and Thrifty are right by the Beeline.
