We're doing WDW for 1 wk. before we cruise on RCCL and then doing SW 2 days after cruise before we fly home. Our issue is should we rent a car the entire 2 wks. and pay to park it at the port (and leave extra things we don't need for cruise in the car) or should we rent it for the days before the cruise, turn it in and then re-rent it after the cruise. Also, who is best to rent from that is in Sanford airport and at Port Canaveral? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

For our cruise last year I ended up booking 2 reservations through Budget -- one for an overnight near MCO and the drive to Port Canaveral, and the other for our post-cruise stay at Universal. The Budget at PC provides an easy shuttle back to the cruise ships and it went smoothly. I just checked the Sanford Airport website and it indicates Budget is off-site via shuttle. You can read about rental agencies at the Port on www.dcltribute.com

We are in a similar situation - we'll be in Orlando for 1 week (Th-Th), then to Port Canaveral for 3 nights on DCL (Th-Sun). I had reservations at Budget for Th-Th (MCO-port) for $190 for the week, then a 1 day Budget picking it up at the port and returning to MCO for $36. Then I noticed posting on the dis budget board of good rates through Alamo, I ended up changing to Th-Sun with Alamo for $174, we'll park at the port for 3 days ($36) and still come out ahead and we won't have to bother with the shuttles and rental lines any more than necessary.

So I'd say try all scenarios and see what works out best (and for us travelling with 2 children, not having to return the car and then pick it up again is a definite consideration).

I know how you feel! This will be our 1st trip to WDW and our 1st cruise...me, dh, dd3 and ds 7! Right now I have booked all 2 weeks through Dollar for $360.00 for the 2 wks for an intermediate car ( plus have to pay to park it). However I can book through Budget for $270. total, for the Sun-Mon before the cruise and then Fri-Sun. after the cruise. (if I rent it, turn it in and re rent it.) I guess I'll have to try Alamo for the full 2 wks. and see what i can come up with, if it's less then Dollar then I'll try them! What's the best code for them?

The best codes for Alamo right now seem to be 430710 and rate code BY - I don't know when you're going but on Alamo's home page there is a link to a $15 off coupon (I think the code is D42C) however that is only good thru 4/30 - BTW the best rates at Alamo right now are on mid-size SUVs, cheaper than compact or intermediate cars.

I was able to use that code and coupon for 5/3-5/9. The coupon says good until 5/31
