I am planning a 10 day California trip next year. We are planning on buying the 6 Day So. Cal Adventure ticket.

In your expert opinion, would it be best to fly into Santa Ana, rent a car and drive to DLR for 3 days, then drive to the San Diego area and stay there. Does anyone have hotel recommendations near SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo and Hollywood Studios. From there is it too far to drive back to Santa Ana airport
or should we fly back from San Diego? Is a rental car really needed while at DLR?

Is it too far to drive to San Fran?

Sorry for all the questions but I am a geographically challenged, WDW expert travelling to DLR for the first time and feeling like I am going to a foreign land.

Thanks for all your help.

Sadly I don't know much about the rental cars in this area. If you are planning a trip to San Diego, it might be easier to get a 1 way ticket to santa ana, and then fly out at san diego.

San Francisco is about 7 hours north.

Disneyland to sea world I think is 70 or 90 miles. As far as rent a car use price line you get a way better deal by naming your own price.

Then what I would do check airports to see which one is the cheapest to fly into, long beach is cheaper for me to fly into and you can take your rent a car to any location in california.

Example fly into san ana rent a car drive to san diego and turn your car in there and fly out of there.

we ended up renting a car for our trip this month. It was nice. We ended up getting a great price on priceline. 7 days for $135. we drove to legoland one day and another to the beach, queen mary and just sight seeing the area. It was nice to have it. Legoland from DL is about 45 minutes and San Diego was another 30 mins or less. Not sure about San Fran.

San Francisco is a 6-8 hour drive depending on traffic. It's not something I recommend unless you plan to spend a few days there as well. If that's the case then fly into San Diego and do the Seaworld stuff first, then go to DL and do that part and do the drive to SF last and fly home from there. You can leave your car at the airport in SF or you can drive to Oakland and fly from there or from San Jose. Altho SF or Oak would be easier.
