Rental agency still paying out $2 ppt on OKW and SSR

When OKW and SSR were 156 and GVF nearly 100 over the cost of the two cheaper resorts, I it seemed acceptable to have rental payouts cheaper for OKW and SSR. Now that these two are the same as AKV, very near Boulder Ridge and Aulani, I don't see a reason to pay out $16 a point for these two resorts and $18 for others. Hope payouts rise. I know as a 3rd party, my price per point is not as good as doing it on your own, but I don't have the time at all to do the legwork. I don't begrudge the commission at all. I'm just noting that the dues on OWK are pretty up there and buying direct is more expensive than GF based on the amount of points you buy.

I know it's disappointing to receive less. However, the price paid by the brokers is based on demand, not the DVC owner's costs. More renters prefer the near park resorts over either OKW or SSR, and are willing to pay the premiums to book those.

I never thought of it like that. I did see 47 beach club wish lists! But paying the same to renters for BC seems to need to be higher, then, than 18. You are full of truth, though. Payouts are through the rental's eyes, not the contract owner.

A bidding system would level the playing field - I could not get a BW rental due to more demand than supply so if I was able to bid 25/point that may have helped owners pick my bid vs a 23-point bid.

Rentals pieces are not related to purchase costs, the are more closely related to a discount off rack rate.

The premium on some rentals reflects the usefulness of the 11 month window. If you want a beach club reservation you pay a premium to get it well in advance.

SSR will never command a premium, way too many units available, as someone else mentioned, it is supply and demand.

Yes, I agree with this. Almost all unfilled requests are BCV, it seems it sold have its own category of higher payout.
