Rent

OMG *dies* I <3333 Rent. I've been in love with the show for almost two years now. and I just saw it on Broadway for the first time this past Thursday. AMAZING. I cried SO hard during I'll Cover You Reprise.

And the movie? So can't wait. I'm going with my friends on opening day, the first showing the movie theatre has. and probably two more times that weekend, once with my sister, and the other time with more friends.

The movie cast was at the Virgin Megastore in NYC yesterday.

Can't wait to see it!

LOVE RENT!!!saw it on broadway a few years ago and bought their CD...Listen to it on my ride to work very often. can't wait to see the movie.

My DD almost 9 wants to see it something fierce. The only problem is I HATE musicals. I would rather go to the dentist. I don't know what I am going to do. I guess I will suck it up and go.

I can't wait for it to come out. I can't imagine the movie matching the intensity of the stage show though. I saw it over 8 years ago as a senior band trip and I was AMAZED at how powerful it is.

I got free tickets to an advanced screening! OK, so it's only a day before. You can get them for several cities at www.glamour.com/reelmoments. Should be under the third link on the right side called "screening series".

I'm very glad most of the original B'way cast was hired for this. Although, the new cast album is taking some getting used to. IMHO, Rosario Dawson's voice keeps getting drowned out, esp. in "Out Tonight".

Rent is one of my favorite musicals - if not right at the top of the list - as well as DW's, so we're both really looking forward to the movie. I was thrilled that they were able to get the vast majority of the original Broadway cast for the movie, particularly Adam Pascal and Idina Menzel (fresh off of starring in Wicked).

Monique - I don't know about the movie but the language in the stage production is a little rough. I haven't heard what rating the movie got but I wanted you to be prepared.

I always tell friends who ask "you have to look past the bad language." It took me aback the first time I saw it. I'm not used to the word f*** being used so freely and so often. I've seen the stage production twice and see it's coming back to Chicago. Can't wait to see it again.

Can't wait to see the movie too. The music is awesome.

Can't wait. :cheer2:

Look for me, I'll be the old guy mooing in the back of the theatre.

No day but today!

Oops, had a little more to say. :)

MoniqueU, why exactly don't you like musicals? If it's the music, this one is basically rock, not "broadway-style" music. In fact, the casting calls specifically encourage people without experience in musicals.

As to the child issue, it's PG-13 for theme (drugs and sexuality) and language. I'm guessing that at 9, most kids have been exposed to the words before. The larger question might be, how do you feel about a show that celebrates diversity in a very strong manner? (One song offers a toast "to f*ggots, l*zzies, d*kes, cross-dressers too.")

On the other hand, when we adopted our first daughter, I sang "I'll Cover You" to her.

Live in my house
I'll be your shelter
Just pay me back
With one thousand kisses . . .

One of my favorite shows, ever.
