rent/transfer?

What is the difference between rent or transfer points? New to this and hope everything right. Thanks!!

DVC members can only transfer points to other DVC members. DVC members can rent reservations (made using points) to anyone - members and/or non-members.

Points are of no use to non-members since they may only be used by the member who controls the account in which they reside.

Points transferred to another member may only be used by the member to whom they were transferred. Reservations made using points can be in the name of a non-member, but the member will always retain control of that reservation until check-in.
