 Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and looking for some advise. I am planning a trip for early 2006. I can't decide whether to rent points for the BCV or book a package with dining at one of the EPCOT resorts - when the packages become available.

I'm afraid that there will be a big price increase for the Magic Your Way package because it has been so popular. Disney can't tell me when they will be published 2006 rates. If I rent DVC points, I will know exactly what I am going to pay for the room, but I will have to pay for my meals seperately.

Thanks for your help.

Paying for meals seperately was always our choice before DVC anyway. I never felt prepaying meals was a good way to go. With DVC and renting points, you will have access to a kitchen where you can have breakfasts and snacks, so your food budget will decrease greatly by just stopping at a grocery store on your way in.

Why not wait until the prices come out to decide? Early January isn't all that tough to get into - I'm betting you could still rent points even if you waited a few more months. That's especially true if your dates are flexible.

Weekend nights are usually less expensive to book for cash via CRO than to book for points. Have you thought about arriving on a Friday and booking the MYW dining package for Friday & Saturday nights and then renting points for the weekday portioin of your stay? That might end up to be the best of both worlds.

Also, FWIW, DVC says they are working on a way to allow people staying on points to add the dining package to their reservations. Maybe by January 2006 you'll be able to add the dining package to a rental.

All that said, are you sure you want the dining package? Will you really eat that much food every day of your stay - enough to make you feel you got your money's worth? I find that pre paid meal plans / vouchers just tempt me to eat way more than is good for me to make sure I "got my money's worth".

Best wishes -

Thank you for your advise!! I think I will wait a while to see what the prices for 2006 look like. Last trip to WDW we did alot of character meals and sit down meals. I just thought that it would be nice not to have to worry how much to budget for food.
